Thanks everyone. I have some musical instrument projects that I've been needing to do, will start on those to keep my mind off things.

Ha ha, most of my friends have been female though. I do feel the urge for a stein full of ale for some reason now.

I have trust issues, especially with males. Of course now I can't trust females either. Time to just keep to myself, it worked for the first 14 years of my life.

Today I drove a 997. I moved it a glorious hundred meters or so. Steering was heavier than I thought. I'm still in love.

Today, I am driving to work in my 6gc and - until lunch and/or close of business - that will be the best part of my Thursday.

You said it. I drive home from (or to) work and the world is alright. The Celica just feels right, like it's at peace with itself. Putters along waiting to be thrown in a turn.

today I finished off a tank of gasoline after a whole week of putting around not revving it above 3k rpm.
and I got to 350 miles before the light came on, that's up to 27mpg from 25. so driving slow saved me about $3.50 in a week.
...well Foock That, next week I go back to driving it like it was meant to be driven.

then I went to the carwash in the evening and gave it a quick spray down. I need to get some pics of it up there cause under the fluorescents of the car bay at night It looks Black Cherry!

There's gotta be something wrong with mine then, today i filled up and ended up with 225 miles on almost 13 gallons of fuel.

Is it cold there, are you letting it warm up to operating temp before driving, and are you driving mostly in the city?

I fluctuate between 200 odd and 250 miles in the city during winter with my GT...

Ya normally I get to 320, 300 worse case on 13 gallons. Ive got a 5sfe with a manual (4.17 final)
I dont think you should get worse than 22mpg even if you hotrod it all the time. And I drive about 25 miles highway, 10 miles city, each way each day.
Ive seen these guys with turbo say their still getting 28mpg. Of course that's a smaller displacement.

I would check your basic tune-up stuff like plugs, wires, dist cap, rotor, fuel filter, air filter. Maybe your intake air sensor is bad or not plugged in. The idle speed controller can waste gas if its stuck at choke speed too.

The manual lists causes of poor fuel economy as:
Fuel leak,
Dirty air filter,
Bad spark plugs,
Incorrect ignition timing,
Dirty/bad injector,
Idle speed too high,
Improper tire pressure,
Clutch slips,
Brakes drag.

I get 36-40 with my ST, but I've kept everything in top nick and drive like a sane person.

I know what you mean, I've gotten to drive some really nice cars just a few hundred feet. It was enough to make my day, and then made me wish I held whatever job it was the owner had.

ya they say that 1.8L gets crazy gas mileage.
and I drive like a sane person, but there are a lot of Retards out there who just need to be passed...

especially when I'm doing 65 at 3k and all you have to do is squeeze the pedal just a bit and your doing 80. : )
or when somebody is going 45 on a 2 lane road and you're coming up on the only place to pass him for 5 miles, so hit 3rd and go right around him.
good therapy right there man.

I think i need to change back to iridium spark plugs, i went to double platinum and i think that's part of the issue. Air cleaner is fairly tidy and still a good blue color. Maybe i'll boil it once and see what comes out. I've kept up on maintenance like it was my life but lately i've been slipping due to injuries.
I've already changed... Plugs, Wires, Cap, Rotor, MTM SynchroMesh, Air Cleaner, Cleaned the TB/Mainfold, Replaced MAP, Replaced TPS, I stopped running Premium due to cost, I ran Seamfoam through the Tank and Vac Lines.
Logically everything should be top shape and i experimented with shifting before 3.5k and it didnt seem to help. I don't normally let it idle too long in the cold since it warms up quite fast.
I'm thinking fresh iridium plugs and maybe an ignotion timing adjustment via distributor.

Btw i drive alot in the city but i hit the highways at 70 when im able, maybe 80/20 city/hwy respectively.

I use Denso platinum TT plugs with NGK wires.

Also I'm ecstatic to say that the pen is mightier than the sword for once.

Nice is relative. Nice nowadays means "clad in leather and electronics." I care more for a driving experience. Having said that, today's manual 996 turbo sure beats that 997 with a PDK.

PDK, what's up with that? It also makes me sad the GTR doesn't have a traditional manual.
