Well I kind of lost my job with the Warehouse making good money, I didn't lose it because I did something bad or wrong, I lost it because of miscommunication in management, and I still think its ridiculous what happened - but oh well. Its a long story. Anyways, there's hardly any jobs, if it all, around here that make the money or even close to the money that I made at the Warehouse. So i'm thinking about sucking it up and joining the Air Force. I really don't want to leave behind my social life, my celica and my family, but i'm not going to get anywhere right now seeing i've only got a few classes of College work completed. I don't know whether I should take the opportunity to join the Air Force and sell the Celica, or .. ?? I'm just kind of lost right now. If any of you have Air Force experience or have been in this situtation, please give me some suggestions...

hey man, sorry to hear about your job. regarding joining the air force, I don't think now is a particularly good time. we are on the verge of war, and once that ends we will most likely have another round of 'peace-keeping' or whatever bush wants to call it. odviously I don't know what your situation is, because I'm not you, but seeing as you've come so far on your Celi project already, why not go through with it? get another job to hold you over, and stick it out... it'll be worth it in the end!

Why not hold off on your celica project (so you can save up some money if you need it), get a decent job (may not be as high paying as the warehouse but its a job) keep taking classes in college, maybe even get a 2 year degree or something until you can find another good job.

Heh man, I'm a US Marine. Now I love what I do but its diffirent for everyone. I only say this because the armed forces don't really take well to those that are only 50-50 on the commitment. I'm not trying to down you. I'm just saying that this is one of those cross road decisions. Make sure your joining for the right reasons, thats a big step. Once your in, YOU ARE IN. If you join then God speed and maybe you might just be one of the guys that protect us on the ground biggrin.gif Just don't join because of bad luck. I'm done running my mouth rolleyes.gif

Dude...i seriously wouldn't do it right now if i were you. I know it seems like you're at your last resort right now but trust me there are other things out there. I was in the same position not too long ago so i know how ya feel. People bounce back dude...i damn sure did. just cause you're down right now don't go join up with something you might not even like and get stuck in it...that'll just make things worse. But if you really wanna join, more power to ya. I've grown up around the military all my life

Well Im right now In AFROTC. Its not a bad life, but make sure that you are doing it for the right reasons. Well the AF is the best of all the services because when we do go to war you will more than likely be away from the front line fighting. You would be in another nation working on something, unless you go and be a PJ or a combat controller then you will be seeing action. But if you went in now you won't see any action in Iraq unless you go in as a peacekeeper. If you have any other ? just ask.

I agree with everyone too. Think about it long and hard. In the meantime get yourself a job, any job or try contacting your old boss to see if guys can try to work things out. Explain your side of the story and let it go from there. Even apologize if it deems necessary. But for god's sake...Don't sell your celica.

Aight, well after today things seem to be back on track.

I've joined the Air Force today, but I still have some tests I have to take and whatnot, and probably won't ship out for another 4-6 months. In the meantime, i'm trying to get a job with a Delivery and Installation Company which is actually making MORE money than the warehouse job, so i'm hoping I get this job. In the Air Force, i'm allowed to take my car with me, and am allowed to work on it in the Auto-Garage's for 2$/hr and there are people there that "work" there that will help me as well. I'm allowed to do any modifications I want in there as far as you can imagine. I will have my own room on base after 6 weeks of Basic Training, then I begin my Educational Training where I will learn everything - typically like school for 12 weeks. Then I go to the base (whether I stay or ship somewhere else) and I start to work for the Air Force. As I work for the Air Force, its like hands-on Education, accumulating College Credits as I work and learn, then I can get my Bachelor's Degree and possibly become a Pilot or start to Train people in the Field I work in (which will be Computer Programming). I can put all the money I want towards my car or as little, its up to me.

When they told me this, it made my decision to go. Since i'll be able to have alot more money than any jobs can possibly give me, plus all living conditions are free. So this will be good, and I can keep the Celica Project underway, and possibly have it done alot earlier than possible. I have every weekend off and alot of Holiday's and I get a full month off a year. So it seems great, i'm really siked to go now. The deciding factor was if I was going to have to sell the Celica or not, but now that I can keep working on it, i'm doing it... but this isn't for a few months.

Good to go man. Maybe you'll be stationed in Okinawa, Japan like I was(this was before I bought my celica), then you'll be able to buy all your mods cheap. If I had only known then I would've spent less for what I'm doing now. I'm glad you made up your mind, and just to let you know most bases are now building paint shops. There's one being built here at Parris Island. Thats Marine boot camp. I know because I'm a Drill Instructor. Which is funny cause if you had chosen the Corp, I might have trained you biggrin.gif

I'm glad to hear that you're happy. My cousin did the same thing for almost the same reason. He was in teh AF for 5 years, got out, and as a civilian makes almost 75k a year as a, guess what, Computer programmer. Good luck!
