Changed my valve cover gasket to fix a significant oil leak down the front of the engine. It continually dripped down onto the exhaust causing smoking while driving and filling my garage with smoke after parking it. Easy enough. Noticed two of the four valve cover nuts were loose and could be unscrewed by hand.... might be why it was leaking, huh?

Also changed my gearbox/engine mount (front). Tried to change the rear but couldn't get it out because the power steering rack is too close (discussion).

This did little to help my in-gear whole car vibration while stopped, so I suspect the rear mount is the culprit. Will go at that again another day.

wish me luck!

sealed up the camshaft seal area (which is where my last leak was)
noticed that the camshaft bearing cam bolts werent very tight....

re-installed everything and went to torque it to the spec 14ft/lbs.......could only get 5 before the bolt slipped.

SO

added some blue loctite and torqued it to 5ft/lbs and closed it up.

If the leak comes back I will have to eventually get a new head frown.gif or just do a swap.
Sadly the bearing cap has guide washers to keep it in place and they are too small to tap the holes to M8

Glad I made your day. tongue.gif

Do you sell suspension?

No, its a joke he likes to make that every "box" mentioned is him.

...but if he did sell suspension he could have a lower ST than he does. tongue.gif

1.5" is enough of a drop, especially with the roads I have.

Today I found myself alone at a stop sign on some nice pavement, so I revved it up to 4500 and dumped the clutch. It shrieked bloody murder at 5500 rpm for at least 10 seconds before I just went ahead and shifted anyway, and it gave a nice chirp into 2nd as well.
Then It was Real Stinky!

afterward I went to my Brother's place and whipped out the hose and sponge...

Which was for our Photo Game thread.

Today, I drove my car to the park to pick up my kids and realized (again) how much I love my car...233,000+ miles and it runs like a baby. Just wish it was a gt.😟

7A gets better mpg though, and at this rate that's what really matters. tongue.gif Though at least with the 5S you can halfway build it up naturally and can always turbo it, or swap it out.
There are so many reasons why I would like to have a gt and I will get it soon. 4 wheel disc brakes, cruise control, power windows and locks, sunroof, 2.2 liter engine, etc...I'm looking at a body right now. I'm just not working right now...going to barber school full time.😎

My ST has all of those things sans 4 wheel disc, conversion isn't hard though.

It'd seem my drive at 2-4 in the morning has become a regular thing... It's the only time I can free my mind. In the same regard it's causing hell for my knee and fuel bill. I did find one fun stretch of highway, I couldn't tell you where it goes without pulling out a map but I drive until it branches off and then turn back. Then I take another highway until it branches and then turn back and go home. Takes a little over an hour for the journey, but I can stop thinking quite so much. It's probably not the best time to go out for a drive, if I had a dollar for every animal that darted in front of me I'd be rich. Though this time I happened to see an old man watering his bushes, it made me feel more sane as I laughed maniacally while driving by.

I do those type of drives late in the night, but in town. I feel more engaged with the car this way compared to the boring highway.

One of the highways goes through a bunch of towns. The other one is fun though as it's windy and curvy with some dips, some partially blind. It's really serene, I'm the only one out there. The only time my mind is clear is when I'm behind the wheel or keys. It's kind of odd with driving, I zone out into my own little world. Same with playing music. Wish I had a road course nearby, it'd be fun. I really should be trying to sleep seeing as I have to do obligatory Easter shìt with the side of the family that thinks I'm going to Hell, at least I get cannoli out of it.

Sounds like you need projector headlights for safety reasons wink.gif

They cost too much though. redface.gif Swapping in HIR bulbs would help though. Then again even the stock lighting is above average. Plus I really wouldn't want to take $500 headlights and have to modify them, because sadly I just can't be a douche and blind everyone. I could install a rally bar though...

Today I reset the air/fuel ratio. Nice easy task for Easter Sunday. Took the car for a short drive beforehand and for a long drive afterwards with my girlfriend. Some noticieble effects. Idles much smoother, and the throtle seems more responsive.(maybe just placebo effect) Hopefully the fuel efficiency got bumped up a notch. Already great, but who doesn't want to go to the gas station even less? Found some new fun roads. Some up hill, some down, all twisty and at various speed limits. All in all, a great day to own a Celica.

If done correctly you shouldn't blind anyone.

Yeah, have to modify them. That or if I could find some ultra rare projectors from a LHD Euro Celica...

The risers are almost finished!
Clearcoat finished, just need to let dry and buff and polish, then work on weatherproof and fitment

Here is a photo of them drying and all the products that went into fixing/painting biggrin.gif
