Hey, your convertible is missing something!

Nothing wrong with the OBDI LT1, the advantage with them is you can run long-tubes and don't need cats. Outside of the early Opti-Spark and the intake manifold gasket they're resilient motors. Easily can get 200K+ out of them, much like the 4.6L Ford. I really hate OBDII though, and only want to deal with it if it involves the LS1. Funny you mention the interior of the Mustang, I find it's not quite as bad as the F-body twins'. At least the dash is vinyl and not plastic anyway. Anyhow I guess now would be a good time to find a good example of each and then narrow it down to one car or another.

I find the pre 98 camaros and pre 93 supras very similar. Both nice cars for a great price, but overshadowed by their younger, Jesus powered counterparts(LS1 and 2JZ).

Sprinklers ruined my less than one-week-old car wash. The good news is that my neighbors will let me use their spigot to wash since they don't pay for their water. No more self-serve car wash!

Any ideas what could be causing all the creaking and banging when I turn at low speed?

Yep, those in the know can get a good value by buying the more overlooked versions of both. The LT1 is perfect for what I'm wanting; pre-OBDII, throw a mild cam into it, and throw some long-tubes on it and I'll be content. Between that and converting to Ram Air it'll be into the 300's at the crank, which is more than enough for the time being. It's not like I'll be drag racing it, though if I could find some Auto X that'd be fun.

So far haven't come across anything but two Mustangs and from the listings I don't even know which transmissions they have, will have to call later when people are awake.

After lowering... Did you replace the strut mounts?

Nope,
Richie and I have been talking and have identified that my drivers side mount bearing is grinding, and needs replacement.

Not sure if I will also need to replace the top mount and bushings, but the whole kit is $110per side. Not exactly cheap...

The noise also disappears when weight is taken off the wheels, and the top nut has been tightened heaps

Go ahead and replace it all and then you'll be worry free for the next 60-100K miles as far as suspension goes. If you intend on keeping the car it's worth doing.

So after a fun day out on the lake I decided Id do the valve cover gasket tonight real fast since it was leaking.

Not too much sludge considering the car sat for a good while and the previous owner didn't take care of it at all.

Of course when taking the valve cover off, the dry rotted PCV decides to snap. So I call up the parts store to see if I could go pick one up tonight but sadly it wont be here until 2:30 PM tmrw. So now I'm just taking my sweet time cleaning everything up

Whoever put the last gasket on made a mess with rtv and its everywhere on the matting surface, its been a real PITA trying to get it all off.

Tmrw I'll get my PCV, put it on, finish cleaning the matting surfaces, replace the valve cover and gasket, and do plugs and wire! Wewww

In good news, I just had a home made coffee cake muffin and it was awesome laugh.gif

I find steel wool makes quick work of old RTV after scraping the bulk off with an utility blade.
