Today I was sitting at a gas pump after getting some fuel and hit the key only to hear a little buzz/hum. It was kindof the same sound it makes if the clutch isn't all the way down so I let out the clutch and pushed it all the way down again and tried several more times and only got a click and a hum.
So I put it in neutral and rolled the window down and pushed it from the window rail. didn't take much to get it going, but getting down into it real quick was a bit tricky yet I got it into 3rd, dumped the clutch and she fired right up nice and smooth. Denso re-man starters on Rockauto.com are $92, too bad I can't order it till Friday. My Celi is so good, she always waits till schools out before she ****s up on me Now I need to go down and see the chiropractor, do I bother to push start it, or just walk? I guess I should try smacking it with the prybar a couple times. -------------------- Bust a Deal; Face the Wheel.

The one in my '93 likes to seize up from time to time. I just take the rubber end of my screwdriver and beat down on it a couple times and it'll turn right over. Its funny cause I have a spare starter laying in the garage I could replace it with.

Hahaha darn! Its fine though, I work until 730 tonight so either way its be sitting to get fixed. Thanks anyways! And why do you have a spare pcv valve in a bag? Bought it to replace when my valve cover gasket was last done but they replaced it when the engine was rebuilt, so... it sits in a bag until I need it. -------------------- Has no more Celicas

Put the hammer onto the starter and hit the hammer with the mallet. It started every time haha I just got sick of it and finally bought a new starter and installed it. I feel like a complete idiot. I made the mistake of being in a rush so I could hurry up and go out with some friends when putting my valve cover back on...the gasket slipped out of the valve cover and I didn't notice (nor did I even check...fail). Torque it down, watch it bead. Looks good right? Wait about 30, call the friends tell them I'll see them soon. Start her up. Air gushing out like crazy. So of course at this point I'm cussing like a sailor. Take the cover off once again to see the gasket not in its correct place...so now their coming to get me and tmrw I get to start all over again. Let this be a good example of why you don't rush yourself to go off and some tail cause then it has to come to you...wait that doesn't sound too bad does it? Yea don't listen to me.

sold my celica... will miss her Welcome to the club. If anything think of all the new exciting possibilities available to you. Hopefully you're not like me and narrow it down to a percentage of a fraction of cars out there. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Got home at 7pm today (yes I was out from 11pm last night till 7pm today... ) in a great mood and finished up my valve cover gasket.
Went ahead and painted cause my manifold was already painted because racecar. I also changed my plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. Now I really need to adjust my idle speed. Some how it managed to move up even higher now from 1k - 1.5k to 1.5k - 2k This post has been edited by travisxcore: May 15, 2014 - 10:20 PM |

Yeah, especially considering the cars I'm trying to find are on the rare side. It's just aggravating, if I wanted a Civic or whatever I'd have no problem finding one. Hell, I've seen a lot of Miata for sale as well. Just seems to be a horrendous lacking of 200+ hp RWD cars with a manual.

its because you are being unrealistic. seriously.. you want a rare care, you are going to have to either drive, fly to get it or pay to have it taken to you... especially in alabama

Believe it or not I found a '94 Z28 with the T-56 today, but there's a catch; it won't go into gear. I'm willing to travel, within reason. The Z28 in California was re-listed for the third time and you don't know how tempting it is to say screw it and go after it. The cheapest shipping quote was a tad over $1,100 and it'd cost about $800 in petrol to get there and back in one car and bringing the Camaro back. Then throw in cost of a few nights in a hotel and going out to eat the entire trip and it's probably more than the cost of shipping. I haven't bothered with looking at the cost of a one way ticket, I don't fly. Would probably be the cheapest route though. 500-750 miles is doable, 1,000 is pushing it, and anything more than that is a hassle. If I want to give up and buy a Mustang there are some of those within 200 miles.
