So I just bought myself a new Celica to replace my old rusting away one. Anyways, I am having some issues with the sunroof. The sunroof will not slide back and when I press the slide button, it seems to be jammed or something and makes a nasty noise. The other problem is that the tilt button seems to do nothing, idk if the fuse is blown for the tilt button or if it is just bad wiring or something. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Well, at least it's stuck in the closed position. Being it's making noise it's the motor that's at fault, you'll have to replace it.

Thats what I was thinking, but I can get the sunroof to move a little bit, so does that mean the motor is weak, just not totally dead perhaps?

from broken gearing, to broken cotter pins, to dirty ungreased surfaces, to a faulty motor.

if we cant see it cant help you. you have to take it apart.

A cable is probably broken.

So I pulled the motor out and am in the process to testing it. Is there an easy way to test the motor to see if it is working? Also how do you pull apart the housing that holds the gears, I think a gear could also be causing the problem.

Supply power to it by connecting leads from a 12V source, using a car battery would be easiest. If it's a gear that's gone the odds of finding a replacement are slim to none, just better off replacing the entire motor. Should be some on eBay or Rock Auto for not too much.
