Had to lay down for awhile, only got two hours of sleep last night and was horrendously hot today. It was owned by a lady in what I'd guess to be her 40's, it's an ALL original Alabama car. Even has all the original documentation. Was sold in August of '89 in Decatur, Alabama and has spent most of its life in a garage. Makes it worth waiting for 2 months to find the right car. No airbag faults or CEL and the only rust is on the wiper arms and window trim where the coating has started to lift. Will take care of that this weekend I suppose along with cleaning and waxing it and doing some mild detailing inside and under the hood. Drives really straight and feels solid throughout. It's like a smaller Celica propelled by the proper wheels. tongue.gif Going to keep an eye out for the hardtop.

that definitely sounds like it was worth waiting for to be honest. (i tend to be an impulse buyer, 18 cars in the last 10 yrs) you got any future plans for it? or leaving it stock?

also that reminds me... i got rust on both wiper arms aswel. how should i go about dealing with that? and is it safe to clean the engine bay +engine? mine has never actually been cleaned

I was an impulse buyer on my 3000GT, and ever since it's hard for me to not be over critical with car shopping. I'll more or less leave it stock. Will get a radio harness adapter so I can use the stereo I bought for the Celica in it. Might as well grab a pair of some Infinity reference speakers while I'm at it. Most likely will use the Magnaflow muffler and tip I bought for the Celica as well. Ehh, find a hardtop but those are OEM anyhow. Might redo the suspension down the road, but I thought I'd drive it as is to better determine what I'm wanting from it in that regard. Possibly find a quick shifter as the stock one is quite worn and I'd be in there anyway to refurbish the original. Any modifications will be quite mild, but that's how it was with the Celica too. OHH, convert the A/C to R-134a as it's so OEM it's still on R-12. tongue.gif

I'm going to use a wire brush to knock it back and then sand with 220 and 400, wipe clean and then prime, color coat, and clear coat. With the engine bay the best way of doing it is with a spray bottle of de-greaser like Purple Power, Simple Green, etc... and wipe with rags by hand. That way there's no worrying about getting sensitive electronics soaked and etc...

Yeah ive owned roughly 5 3000gts in the last couple years. To find one that isnt beat or modded is hard to come by, and their motors are very temperamental because they spin bearings like crazy

What's sad is that it was stock. That and the valve steam seals like to dump oil into the combustion chamber. Who needs mosquito trucks when a local has a 3000GT.

How did you know I've been constantly playing with them? redface.gif

Also did the VIN decoder earlier and it's only the 3,848th Miata ever made! That's pretty cool. biggrin.gif
