Hey guys. I'm rather new to the area and to the Celica family. Is there anyone in the Charlotte, NC area or surrounding states that can handle the 3sgte swap? Or maybe someone widely known in the circles that could handle the job? I'm aware of the costs and fine with it, however I don't have the technical skills to go about doing a project like this.
Any help is appreciated!

As for professional shops that would do it - Tweak'd Performance used to do swaps but I think they've moved towards only doing wiring harnesses.

Several North Carolina members have swapped 3S-GTEs into their cars and would be great resources: bsamps4 (Ben), easternpiro1 (Matt), mgnt232 (Nick), and TwistedCeli94 (Bobby). I recommend reading through Ben's project thread to get an idea of what you'll be doing and what type of tools/budget/effort you'll need: click.

PS: Welcome to the family and hopefully we can get together for a meet-up with the rest of the NC guys.

Thanks! I might give Tweak'd a shout and see. The website says they do engine swaps on a case to case basis, I'd probably have to lay out the vision and budget which is perfectly fine.

I'd love to hear from some fellow swappers and get their input. I personally just don't have the skill set to perform such. I have the understanding and knowledge about how one would go about doing the swap, what engine works and why, what parts don't, how to go about getting the parts, and monetary means to do so. I just have the skill set sadly.

Beyond finding an individual that can do the job, I'm hoping I can find someone that is as passionate about the car and the job at hand as I am. I'm totally down for a meet. I'll keep you guys posted what I find!

We, Prime Performance, do nothing but 3sgte engine swaps into MR2s, Celicas, Rav4s, Camrys, etc. Feel free to give me a call at the office 862-258-3346 if you want to chat about options. We ship cars from all over the country so getting here is no big deal. I look forward to hearing from you. Have a great day.

That's the kind of response I like to see on 6gc! thumbsup.gif

Vince, looks like you might have less work ahead of you than you expected.

I gave these guys a shout and they definitely impressed me! They've got the passion I was looking for. Wish I was still in NJ it would be a quick drive to get this done. Might go visit the folks and get it done around the holidays. I appreciate the good looks tho!

I knew 2 places in NC that I had talked to about tuning my 3s one of them said they had done a few mr2 3s swaps. I will get back to you with the names I don't remember off the top of my head.
[edit] Majestic Motor Sports was one place, near Jacksonville, NC

That is good news to hear though that there is a place in NJ, as i will be moving back to NY in 2 years. PMed you
