I think he realized its a Miata.... Eh nothing wrong with Miata's. I almost got one before I decided to keep my car. Whats not to love about a fun light roadster? My guess it's either too small or too slow for Box's taste. -------------------- |

The handling isn't all it's cracked up to be, which is why I bought it. I'm going to experiment with the tire pressure later tonight while going up and down one of my favourite set of roads, see if that makes any improvement. I know with the Celica which also had 14" alloys the tire pressure made a big difference in how it felt. I suppose the best way of putting it is that the Miata is more capable than what it lets on to be. Fair amount of roll with the OE spec suspension and tire pressure, and the seats have almost no side support whatsoever. The seats in the Celica are much better in this regard. Then again to be fair my Celica also had aftermarket suspension on it, where as the Miata is all stock. Being able to rotate the rear end around is fun though.

I'm sure the suspension is worn out after all the years, and could use a refresh. I've heard that the seats do suck in those, but again that can be fixed. -------------------- |

The suspension is fairly new on it, tires are brand new as well. I don't want to get too involved with it, thinking should've gone with the NB since it has all of the structural and suspension updates. Damn you popup lights making me blind to everything else.

I heard going with the Flyin' Miata springs, Koni shocks, and Flyin' Miata sway bars is supposed to make a huge improvement. That and it'd be nice to find some '01-'05 seats.

Meh... Adjusting the air pressure helped a fair amount, funny how something so simple can make such a difference. I really think the biggest issue now is the seat, it letting me slide around just exaggerates the movement of the car.

It was made in May '89 and sold in August '89, so technically it's an '89 even though it's titled as a '90. If were to swap engines it'd be getting a LS1 or the like, would have to spend a small fortune on bracing first though.

So anyway, Today I'm moulding new clear tail light lenses out of clear polycarbonate sheets and ill be temporarily fitting my LED rings into the tail light housing then making a shroud type thing for it. Doing mostly indoor type work since two hurricanes are coming. Hopefully i can get my LED Reverse lights and turn signals so i can fit those into the housing as well. |
