So... the race car has no rubber left in the rear engine mount. Considering how nasty it is to get that in and out when the engine is not in the way... I was wondering if anyone has had any luck doing it with the engine still in the car? If so.. any pointers? do you need to take off the bolts to the steering rack?

Don't undo the rack.

Remove the front to back crossmember then drop the subframe about 2", that makes it very easy.
You don't have to remove the crossmember, but it makes it easier overall IMO because you need to shift/rock the engine back and forth a bit.

Yeah, and its nice if you get it up in the air as high as you can. There's barely enough room to get under there.
You might need a wobble socket to get the center bolt out of the back mount. I don't remember what I did, but it looked impossible at first.
I put two jacks under the motor and removed the center member the front and back mounts attach to.
