QUOTE (Tigawoods @ Sep 30, 2014 - 5:55 AM) *
how in depth I write up my progress depends on how frustrated I get when I am doing the work hahaha. And its inevitable some things are going to infuriate me along the way.

I am going to go with a lightweight FW. Thank you for reminding me too because I had planned on keeping my 5SFE clutch setup for the motor rather than going with a hybrid setup. I need to look at the differenced and pro/con's of the 5SFE and 3SGE flywheel. I found cams at an OK price, they are mild, comprable to the colt cams for the 5sfe.

I hope I get mine started by then! Ill keep an eye on your build!

Why would you need a hybrid setup at all? If you are looking for a beams with the LSD transmission then wouldn't you just keep it all 3S-GE?

I have a couple of leads on reasonably priced C-One 3S-GE flywheels if you are interested.

I'm not sure of how much of a 'build' it will be yet. My only set requirements at this stage are LSD and lightweight flywheel. Still deciding whether or not to start doing cams / EMS etc.

Ive got a motor lined up already and will be using my S54 trans I have in. It would just make more $ sense since I just put in a new clutch just last winter and would hate to have to try and sell it and spend $ on a whole new setup. All I really need ... or WANT i should say is a lighter FW and the 5S is only a few MM less in diameter than the 3SGE.

As for a hybrid setup I think I confused 3SGE parts with 3SGTE parts.
http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=89910%5Bb
I was thinking of a 3SGTE clutch disk with a 5sfe spline.

I am scatter brained since the build really isnt at my front door yet, I havent really lasered in my focus in some areas haha

I had a large urge to solder so I went out and grabbed some bulk leds/resistors/perfboard and starting making these

so far 8x 10mm seems to be the best fit but I am going to try and fit in 12. I am trying different circuit layouts to see what is the cleanest.

next is to weather proof them with some liquid tape or similar high temp gasket sealer.

after that, I have to figure out how to securely mount them in the light housing. I will have a hand full of these at the end so Ill probably sell some off

here is the fist completed unit. Id like to make it a bit cleaner but Im not sure if its worth the extra time/effort since it will be packed into the light housing.

As rough as it may look I wanted to be completely certain that it is vibration resistant (my car will put that to the test for sure lol) and weather resistant. It fits super snug into the housing. I need to decide if there is a way to make it removable or just glue the sucker in there.

I'm looking into some sort of flex board for the turn signals, both front and rear. I think it would be a really nice upgrade over stock bulbs...but if one goes out it looks bad kindasad.gif

Pretty sure that the liquid tape there will prove very weather proof for you. As a thought for putting it in there and making it removable, considering you have the panel cut to fit in snug I would just run electrical tape around the sides of it and cut off any extra overhang. That way you can just put it in with a little force and it will stay by being compressed by the plastic cover and it would be removable when needed.

special_edy did that along with a sequential setup. it is ALOT of soldering, but he used 5mm leds. give it a go! I dont think he ever finished the project completely

that stuff it tough!
I glue gunned it all around the perimeter...then I read this haha. I dont think it will have held that well with tape. It was snug but, my car is rough, it would have rattled loose

Definitely not looking to do the whole sequential part. Way too much work and I'm not a fan of it.
Just want something simple, but if I were to do the turns, I'd have to do the rest of the lights too..

lol I hope not!!

so far I have a good amount of interest. If people are interested in participating in the "buyback program" with their old lights I can really get the ball rolling on them.

one thing I am trying to figure out before I start selling is adding in a brake light strobe module as an option. I have one installed into my third brake and I love it. Its very F1 lol
