Hey guys, I've been a part of this forum for a while, I have a 95 GT auto and I just recently found a 95 ST that has less mileage than mine (125k compared to my 225k) and it is also a manual. I was just wondering if there are any ST owners out there who have owned both the ST and GT or have compared both. Is it worth dropping down to a ST model. I like the fact that this ST I'm thinking about purchasing is a manual and has 100k less miles than mine but I just wanna get some advice from some of you guys. Should I keep my auto GT or would i be better off with the manual ST. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks guys. -------------------- "I'd rather lose by a mile because I built my own car than win by an inch because someone else built it for me"

If the engine is not smoking or eating oil then it may be worth it if the price is right. But from what I read on this forum, GT is much better. ST's 7A-FE engine (if that is what you have) is not very well liked.

The only way to certainly know is to test drive it. I like the ST's lower weight, it feels better on turn-in. However, I feel like the GT's gain makes it feel a little more stable when the suspension and body start leaning.

I've owned two gt's for 7 years with over 200k miles and picked up my st last week with 80k, no sunroof,no ac, no cruise control and It feels really solid and the powerband feels more smooth/consistent then the 5sfe. Possibly because of the mileage effecting the power on the gt but I like my new st alot, surprisingly .

Go with an st205!
For day to day use i doubt there would be a huge difference. Manual is great, but can get old real fast in bumper to bumper traffic. Go with the st if your worried about the high mileage. You can swap seats and interior bits around too. I would not focus on just the mileage either. Go look at the car and get a feel for how it was driven. |

ST ok if your going to drive it.. there is nothing wrong with this.....
if you ever want to mod, or to swap keep GT. yes youll need the manual parts, however, the 7a transmission is useless with the powerful swaps... this is what it boils down to. -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years... I try my best. My ST was a good car, got 36-40 mpg depending on how often I took it to redline. If I wanted another gas saver it's probably what I'd get again.

Anything else that's good on fuel is boring. That or it's a CR-X or Integra.

Thanks for all of the advice guys, unfortunately the seller of that ST raised the price way too much. So I'm sticking with my GT. I told myself that when my current engine blows up (the 5SFE) I'm gonna do a manual/engine swap to a beams 3sge or a 3sgte. So it will only be a matter of time.

What I'd do is be on the lookout for a GT with a sick/blown engine, then you can swap it while you continue to drive the one you have now.

And that's not a bad idea, keep my auto GT for my daily and do an engine swap in another GT....Hmmm I'll have to ponder on this option now. -------------------- "I'd rather lose by a mile because I built my own car than win by an inch because someone else built it for me"

Yep, that's what I was going to do before I gave up on FWD. Find a black GT, then you can go and paint it whatever colour you'd like on the outside and all of the jambs and it'll still look right. Should be able to find one with a bad/blown engine with a good manual trans for under $1,000.
