Alright everyone, I have been snooping and scrolling through hundreds of posts on this fantastic website and I felt it was time to start my own progression thread to simply document my journey.
I am currently located in Sydney, Australia where my little Celica roams the streets! It is a 1996 ZR model with the 5SFE with TRD front and rear splitters, 7th Gen sportivo 17" x 7" wheels complimented with Kuhmo Ecsta XS (KU36) tyres 17x215x45. Clear side indicators, TRD Gear knob, black and red stitched boot. Dark blue suede door cards, Sony Xplode double din head deck with sound system to match. Cannon exhaust system and dual core aftermarket radiator. Here are some pics of her, enjoy! A sick twist of events are about to follow however |

So now for the bad new. Two weeks ago some old dude ran into the side of me while failing to give way. All I can say its a real shame what happened!
I had the car towed as it was completely un-driveable and took her home to assess the damage and get her up on the jacks too see if recovery would be possible. Judging by the picks though, I presumed my chances where slim. . Take a look for yourselves. As I said before, the prognosis is not looking good. The guy that ran into me thought was an 74 year old man who claims he did not see me and was unable to brake in time. Anyway what pissed me off even more though was he pretty much came out unhindered. More to come. |

Now that the girl was home, I could pull out the tools and have a quick look at her to see if there is anything that can be done to save her!
First step was to take the guard off and the broken headlight, jack the car up and remove the wheel and suspension unit. As you can see on the photo the unit was completely bent. Rentaspace was kind enough to donate me his old stock suspension unit and front guard to see if I can at least get the car drivable so I can drop it of at the mechanics to give it a thorough inspection. Disassembling the car. A look at how bent the suspension really was . After I replaced the suspension there still seemed to be a lot of negative camber plus a lot of toe in. I adjusted the toe in to the complete maximum but it was still -2.1 degrees. drivable at least to the mechanics but not looking good so far. Moment of truth reveals that the lower control arm is completely out of kilt, the steering column has seen better days and the actual chassis itself is bent as well. He said he could repair it but the car would obviously never drive the same again and the cost involved in getting it repaired would be more than buying a new one. So now I just have to wait until I hear back from the insurance company. This post has been edited by Tomski: Oct 21, 2014 - 1:44 AM |
