After some more reading people say the clutch shouldn't be terribly stiff, one even went as far as saying it was lighter than his wife's Honda... Either way the general consensus being if properly functioning it should be firm and consistent through travel, but not super stiff. Which if the Cobra was on it's original clutch, cable, and quadrant I could foresee that causing an issue. Just going off the physical clutch weights it should only be twice as heavy as the Miata, but the Cobra felt like it was easily 4-5 times stiffer... Not sure if hydraulic would really make a difference unless it had a vacuum assist. Earlier Honda's have a light feel with a cable operated clutch that's in the 10 pound range. Suppose will try and find one with a new OEM clutch and cable before I give up entirely...

NEVERRRRRRR. I'll buy a Mustang and spend $500 on making the clutch usable instead.

I would but I have no monies. I would really love to put a tundra v8 in one but I don't know if it would fit so an ls engine might be better. Oh well it will be years before I can afford to do that.

That and configuring it to RWD. redface.gif Easiest thing to do would be to use a tubular chassis and mount the body to it, more or less what Toyota did with the V8 Camry at the SEMA show.

I would use a 1st gen celica so I wouldn't have to configure it to RWD. I'd have the looks of old with modern engine and suspension.

Don't let Norberto hear that. tongue.gif

Anyhow, good news for once. I went down and tested the GTO and it's clutch isn't that much heavier than the Miata's. About equal with the Celica oddly enough. So that's opens up the 4th gen F-body and Corvette as well. Wooooo! biggrin.gif

I wish I had that kind of money. Hell, I'd be like Jay Leno and have a few hundred cars spanning the years and brands.

Really? Any info on the tundra engine in one. I don't plan on doing one for years but it never hurts to research.

Finally got my winter car dropped off at work to take care of the rattling water pump so I can at least drive it, then I need to order up the 15" wheels with new tires that don't have shifted belts and flat spots, then swap on the Mazda 6 rotors and calipers so the pig can stop.

**** yes LS swap! The alloy 5.3's are a great choice for a little bi-turbo action.

So many cars to swap, so little time. tongue.gif

Supposed to check out a Mustang GT tomorrow with a new clutch and cable. Honestly I like the Firebird/Trans Am more despite the cheaper interior and being a royal pain to work on. Plus you see Mustangs everywhere, when I went to see the Cobra I saw at least eight of that generation in a span of fifteen miles. Of course that's why parts are also half as much..
