Hopefully some of you will help me collect some data. Download a Decibel Meter app for your phone, there's a couple out there for both android and IPhone.
I have a N/A 5sfe with a manual, and no extra sound deadening. Sitting at idle I'm around 40 decibel, if I spin it up to redline it gets to about 69 decibel, and up at highway speed its between 65 and 69.
If I push in the clutch it drops maybe 5 db. So what kind of levels are you getting? Especially you guys who've done some sound proofing i'd love to see what kind of readings you're getting.

I just tested mine and at idle I sit at 54db and reving the engine up I go up to 69db. I have removed all the interior off the floor boards and sprayed lizard skin on it.
this is my second celica that I have done sound deadner to. The first one I used cheap spray on kind from pep boys and I couldn't tell a difference, but the lizard skin I noticed a huge change.
also I have a loud exhaust so the lowish db reading is not bad.

Finally tested mine today. Keep in mind that my car is s '98 so it has factory sound insulation, and I've added Frost King. That's all offset by the exhaust though, I hate that noise following me everywhere I go. Idle is 60 dB and cruising is 80-85 dB. Redline took it to 97 dB.

wow mine seems so quiet compared to anybody with some exhaust work.
I had some sinus problems and my ears were buggin me for a while, now it doesn't seem too bad.
I like the way mine doesn't make much noise until you get above 3500

they say the mic in your phone is mostly to 80db, above that it might not be accurate. And I tested mine with the phone mounted to the window mount thing I have in the center of the windshield, which is close enough to ear level.

I use the JL audio App. It has a few other useful tools as well.

...

My car is about 67 at idle and about 86 on the road. If i have my music going it gets around 97.
I have some sound deadening but it's outweighed by the exhaust.
