I'm well aware of the many kinds of LED bulbs. The Philips are special though, they have a few well placed LED's to put light into and fully use the reflector bowl inside the light. I have their red tail/brake lights which light as evenly and as brightly as the stock bulbs do, but do it with only 8 small Luxeon LED's. Optics are as much about where the light is as they are about how much light there is.
The turn signal bulbs are only available in Asia at the moment, I didn't want to wait for them to come to the US. They cost so much because they also come with 2 5W heavy duty resistors, but I already have a LED capable flasher so I don't need those. I'll sell them off to recoup some of the costs. The Philips bulbs don't work perfect in every car like they do my Celica. In my Mazda the 7443 LED brake/tail bulb just isn't as good as the filament bulb due to how the housing is designed.

Box plz buy something and just be happy.

That's impossible. Of course the psychologist in me would say something about how my desire for things I have direct control over to be perfect is a reflection of my inability to cope with the things I don't have control over not turning out as I had desired. Or maybe how I seek happiness in material objects and once I've acquired them I'm happy temporarily only to become an empty shell again. That's just nonsense though and I'd leave immediately after throwing water into my face. The fact of the matter is until I can afford a $50,000+ car that has everything I want in a car I'll never be satisfied with what I have regardless of how great it may or may not be and how loved or loathed it is. So I might as well just accept it and move on, then I'll spare everyone the agony of my existence. I'll get whatever and deal with it, after all cars are just tools anyway...

Yep, all about placement. I know you know, but halogens have 360º of light spread and it takes a lot of good well placed LEDs to replicate that. That's why so many people are disappointed when they buy cheap LEDs. The only thing that concerns me with the Philips are that they're so many counterfeiters out there. Like there's supposedly a Philips HID retrofit kit that uses the same parts as their OEM supplied units, but every site is so shady...

I feel like dancing on moving planes for some reason.

That and I thought about what you said before, and you're right. I barely give a car enough time, as usually a month in I'm already bored and ready for something else. I liked the Miata but with its O.E. spec suspension, the Celica with its Tein suspension was honestly better. I had been looking into suspension from FM before some lady backed out into it, but oh well. I have considered a later NA8/NB Miata with the improved chassis and then permanently affixing a hardtop, followed up with mild suspension work. I'm sure after that it'd be closer to what I was wanting out of a Miata originally. With the Firebird I have my pavement pounder, which handles better than you'd expect it to by the way, so keeping it I can eliminate that desire for power and focus on a car more tailored to handling and nimbleness. I drive like an old man on the streets anyway, so something with better economy and handling would be of better use as a daily. A NA8 Miata would make sense considering I have a whole car to source parts from outside of the damaged panels and things that changed like the engine etc... A CR-X is also another contender since I've always wanted one for some reason. Celica, MX-3, Integra, and NX-2000, are other FWD considerations. Really the only other RWD cars that'd meet the economy mark are the MR2 and AE Corolla, the 240SX if it didn't take premium for whatever reason. I have time to mull it over some, but now is the time to buy a Miata again thanks to the below freezing weather.

Yeah I know... Actually I did make one a long time ago... I'm just a terribly indecisive person, I literally stood in the man's yard for about 90 minutes after the test drive before deciding to buy it. Mind you this is a car I've wanted since I was knee high. I have decided to keep it though, I literally stole the car and the chance of finding another in its shape for the money is probably impossible. I should've just expected to buy something more economical to offset its insatiable thirst from the beginning. Even with fuel as cheap as it is a 50 mile round trip costs me over $10. I sat down and calculated the yearly average of 15,000 miles and my heart stopped for a second, over $3,000 in fuel at today's lower pricing. So yes, it definitely makes sense to buy something like a CR-X or another Miata or Celica.

You could always get a civic coupe or hatch. They're dirt cheap, and get great mileage. I really love mine.

I'd get a CR-X if were to go into Honda land, I don't know why but I really like them from an aesthetics standpoint. The MX-3 is nifty since you can get it with a V6. The Miata I feel deserves a second chance, a newer model with an improved and younger chassis would help. The CR-X in the DX, and especially the HF, package are the most economic of the lot. The Si is still in the low 30's even, so not bad at all. The only thing with them is unless I have paperwork on a belt change I'd immediately want to do that since they're interference motors. The Miata is RWD which is a plus for me, but having the soft-top and limited space is a minus. Though a "hardtop" can be bought for around $1,000. I also have my Miata still that I had stripped down for track use, so plenty of spare parts. So really I think it'll be a matter of either a Miata or a CR-X.

Yeah, I didn't feel like saying "before some lady backed out into the road without looking and ended up being hit by an oncoming car, disabling her car, and then as I came around the corner I had nowhere to go." Not a really good way of shortening that. tongue.gif

you didn't answer my questions.

there is an entire race series dedicated to the miata and is used across the nation is Auto-X.
the celica may have sold from an eariler year, but died because no one was buying them because they were over-priced and under powered.
miata on the other hand? 1 million and continuing to grow that number.

i am impressed that you know your left from right. and i am very happy you have to completely upset the balance of the car to get it to do what you want.
im not insecure over your statements, i am sick and tired of your constant complaining and moaning about not finding a car you like.

find something, stick with it and for gods sake, if its not a celica, quit running your post count up on 6gc.

yeah miata.net is a bunch of douches who are to good for the world. congratulations on being able to read. club roadster is full of bro's who want to drift and stance, congratulations are in order to jump the bandwagon and being above them and being better.

yet here we are on the biggest celica cirlce-jerk site on the web, and my point on that last one is proven by YOU who thinks the celica is the standard for handling..

peace out homie. i hope you end up wrecking your next car as well

Thanks Lamont. He's just mad I'm pretty and don't worship the Miata blindly. tongue.gif Speaking of, a friend found a '94-97 Miata for sale on their way back home from the store, so will call about it today to get more information as to the exact year, transmission, mileage, etc... Then I'll have a muscle car and import, the world might implode from the levels of unbiased disposition sitting in the driveway. laugh.gif

Though technically I still have my Miata, it just isn't road legal anymore. Still, you get the idea.

Couldn't of said it better myself. But I'm not talking about cube. Miata people are a special breed of people.... Miata isn't a car, it is a religion (... or cult) and anybody who dare question their god prepare to feel their wrath. Not sure why you bothered coming back just to come and insult regular members.

I hate miatas. So what! American cars give me itch. Problem?

Guys remember freedom of speech. Everyone has an opinion and learn to respect that.

Are you the ones paying for the site. Are there any rules that state that only if you have a celica you can post. Spolski shame on you. I wish you luck, i would never wish harm on anyone here. Everyone, Let the man be.

Miatas were designed for women or small men..

I don't see why we're fighting here. Everyone has different tastes, and we should respect that. Box doesn't like MX-5s so what? Does that make them bad cars? It doesn't. Just like whatever you like and don't care what others say about it.

What's sad is I never said I hated it, just that the Celica the way it was setup handled and felt better than how the Miata was setup. Which is true in my instance, the NA6 has the flimsiest chassis of the model and even the NA8 made huge improvements in reinforcement. Somehow my observation is grounds for WWIII. What few people realize is that I like ANY car that isn't the mundane appliance of the masses, doesn't matter if it's American, Japanese, European, FWD, RWD, or AWD. Sure you'll never catch me in anything with more than two doors, but that doesn't mean I don't acknowledge something like the WRX or Evo. I have my preferences, usually towards RWD and chassis twisting V8's, but that doesn't mean I don't like a car like the Miata or CR-X etc... I know in the past I showed a strong bias at times, but that was just venting frustration because I wanted it to be something it wasn't. I know I should appreciate each car for its strengths, and I try and show that these days. At the same time if something sucks about it I'm calling it out. If you go to just about any car site it's nothing but praise about their beloved car, and anyone that doesn't conform to the colony and points out something bad they're shunned. For those doing research on said cars they're viewing through rose tinted glasses, and that's not fair.

Anyhow, thanks everyone. It really means a lot.
