I've always liked the idea of ITB's on a BEAMS, but have been put off by cost (quoted $2500).

Just found these 4AGE ones. I know they don't fit straight on, but there are many posts on the internet about ways to use them;

And then I could get a 1ZZ Power FC to run it.

Think its worth it?

look into clearance, they look to jut outwards more than the beams manifold. Also the runners for the beams intake manifold are pretty long at these ITBS would sit maybe halfway the length of the stock manifold, which I suppose could be remedied by having long angled trumpets.

They would probably take some additional work to fit on yeah, but I would grab some camshafts to accompany the ITBs. I doubt youd see much improvement from ITBs alone

ITB's over the stock Intake Manifold probably wouldn't yield much in the way of powa, but the "wow" factor would be there for sure!

wont work, first off the 1ZZ Power FC wants a MAF sensor. using ITB's there is no MAF sensor. Unless you create a plenum that contain the ITB's and have a tube feeding it. but that will defeat the purpose.

I don't know why people say oh you won't get much power from them. Uh of course it's still an N/A motor. With a stand-alone ecu, ITB, bore out stock header, make a better design y pipe and 60mm inner diameter piping exhaust you'll see 22-25hp with a good tune. But wow you'll have to say goodbye to your ban account unless your friends with a tuner

Thanks guys, especially Smaay, because that was precisely the oversight that makes this no longer worthwhile for me. I don't want to pay for lots of Dyno tuning, so I think I will keep the engine stock smile.gif

yeah I hate to bust your bubble. Using a Power FC is still an option, you just have to keep the MAF. however it will allow you to use a different MAP, for example in my GT-S im using an 05 STI MAF. It has higher resolution for boost applications. it is also more forgiving on the tube size the MAF is in.

Id like to see how well a PFC works with a BEAMS.

NOW there are other options. the AEM EMS4 would be a good option. it works off speed density so you could use ITB's

Hey is the bullet type of maf only picky on a stock ecu or is it just the type? I'm just wondering cause my camry 1mzfe maf sensor intake pipe is smaller than my beams 3sge intake pipe.

Is it possible through the use of a piggy back like the AEM FIC/6 with the built in MAP sensor or E Manage to convert the beams from MAF to MAP?
