 96 GT randomly won't start |

New owner, wondering if anyone has had or heard of anyone who has had this problem. I bought it a month and a half ago, a used motor with less miles was put in at the time when I bought it. They put in a new starter, battery and alternator. About a week ago it didn't start, I took it to the mechanic twice, they changed the battery twice. Still having problems with it starting, anyone have a clue?? Think it could possibly be electrical problem.
UPDATE: Problem seemed to go away on it's own, had no problem starting for about a month and a half; went out again one day, and it had the same problem. Seems to have gone away again. When this happens the relay clicks once and she has power. Seems I'll be playing Russian roulette every time I go out to start her. This post has been edited by grntrefrog: Jun 4, 2015 - 11:21 AM |

When it doesn't start does the car still have power? If so does it try to turn over or does only the relay click if that? It could be during the engine swap some grounds were forgotten or not tightened all the way.

It is the right one from where the top hose goes to the engine. Mine was cracked after replace($15( no probs for years starting). good luck FYI the left one is for your guage inside |

Been fine for the last couple months then did it again about a week ago but went back to normal |

Yea Definitely sounds like an Earth(Ground) problem . Had the same with mine. would start perfectly for a month or more then randomly not start.
naturally i thought it was the battery so i bought a new one and bang it started again..until a week later and same thing happened..ran a multi meter on the battery and it checked out fine .then i thought it was maybe a starter problem...while i was looking at the starter i found an earth(ground) cable just hanging down where it should have been held in with one of the starter bolts..that cured it all |
