Before the car gets up to temp turning the compressor on will kick on one of the radiator fans, can't remember which one though.

and if the fan doesn't come on the head pressure will get too high and trip the high pressure switch.
If the radiator fan wont come on unplug the wire connector at the very bottom of the radiator to manually bring on the fans and then see if the AC will stay on. -------------------- Bust a Deal; Face the Wheel.

Just went out and tried this, the AC still turns off after a couple seconds. |

You need a set of gauges to see what system pressures are doing.

Agreed, you need a set of gages. you could have a blockage in the filter dryer, or in the metering device and you need to be able to read refrigerant pressures to spot that kind of thing.
Does it run for very long at all? If you put your hands on the refrigerant lines running up the fender while it's on Is one of them cold and the other warm? -------------------- Bust a Deal; Face the Wheel.

I've got the same deal. checked for blockages and nothing. still runs fine with cold air and blinking light. Also sometimes will not cause blinking light. applied 24oz myself to the system The sensor you showed is the speed sensor for the compressor.

hmmm,
I would have to find a factory service manual to find out what the Blinking light means. You could try looking it up on BGBonline.celicatech.com -------------------- Bust a Deal; Face the Wheel.

Oddly enough, mine started doing the same thing a couple of days later.
It would work for a few minutes and then it would go off and the light on the AC switch would be blinking. But a couple of days later it will stay on the whole ride home. The only difference is that it wasn't very warm the other day when it was acting up and now it's kinda hot out. I haven't had time to fully investigate it but I have noticed, even when it continues to run the compressor is short cycling. Which to me indicates that it's short on refrigerant However I also realized that it may need a bit of compressor oil. The oil for the compressor is added to the refrigeration system just like the refrigerant, it circulates through the system with the refrigerant. For a full charge you need a little 8oz can which you can add yourself with buying just a small hose with the valve and fitting on it. If you don't have enough compressor oil in the system the compressor may chatter or make other noises and could seize up. maybe if it gets jammed and can't turn that is when the light starts blinking? I've got two more weeks before finals and then I'll have some more time to look into it. V.'.A.'.V.'. -------------------- Bust a Deal; Face the Wheel.
