It's nice for me having a black car cause I can just spray tint them black and it blends right in tongue.gif
How much was it for them? I need to get the turn signals for my car

The signals or the tint?
The signals were free. I traded my orange signals for Lagos' clear ones WAY back when.
The tint I got from Lamin-x's website.

Wow chicago? Thats a possibility, a bunch of guys locally usually go to chicago yearly to check out a car show there, who knows, maybe your event and that car show will coincidently land on the same weekend, and a little meet would be perfect

laugh.gif Exactly what I said when I had mine put in! Got up to Dustin's house and he sarcastically tells me that it's not ultra quiet at all. Wish I would've asked sooner, I hate how loud my car is. I can't imagine having your exhaust!

A muffler is either baffled, or straight-through so I'm kind of confused here. All Magnaflows are straight-through with the exception of their XL series.

Can see the difference here, the muffler cutout is their straight-through: http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/02muffler.asp

Here in the top is a small explanation and image in the corner: http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/universalsatinxl.asp
You can see the baffles, sometimes called chambers.

Also since we're on it a true resonator is just a hollow canister, these that have the perforated tubing and packed with fiberglass are straight-through mufflers/glasspacks.

I had that resonator at one point. It was the absolute worst one I have ever had.

"ultra quiet" my a$$.

Get a new resonator.
Better yet get the biggest muffler you can fit under the car where the res is in place. I used a 6" round magnaflow muffler as a resonator on the Rav and it worked quite well.

Awesome thread! and I love the yellow top beams smile.gif i'd do mine burnt copper haha. But yeah still sounds like a tough choice between the 2 engines, I do know for a fact that the downshift on BEAMS is amazing wink.gif

I'd say move the Magnaflow to somewhere after the cat, then use a baffled/chambered muffler at the end and that should tone things down. Magnaflow has the XL series and I've had it put on two vehicles now and they sound great. Very deep and rumbly sound with moderate volume and no drone.

Moderate is kind of up to interpretation. You can definitely hear the exhaust even at idle, and of course while revving out, but it's never obnoxious.

You know what...I had assumed that you were based in Chicago lololol I remember seeing a picture of you car and it saying JDM Chicago in the corner. I didnt even take the time to look at your location tag on your profile hahaha. Let me know when that event is next year and hopefully it will line up! How far of a trip is it for you down there? Its 9hrs for me frown.gif

At first I was a little upset with how loud it was but now I am getting used to it. I will have to compare my loudness with Dustins car when we are up at CSP

The design of the ultra quiet isnt really the friendliest for where it sits through the exhaust tunnel. Its MM's away from a heat shield that cant be bent back. A round tubular muffler would be ideal.

Thanks!
Burnt copper would look SICK! I would love to see that.
Its not nearly as sluggish as the 5S but I can partly attribute that to the flywheel being 10lbs

I guess my knowledge of baffling was off!

I just looked up the XL's and their sizes and the Ultra quiets size and sadly, there isnt a size available that would be a direct pop-out-and-in repalcement.

The Vibrant is 14" long and the shortest 2.5" diameter Round style XL available is 33"
The way I set up my exhaust was that every item is sepereated by V-Band so that I could quick replace a cat or resonator with another if the one goes bad. I didnt really account for having to repalce one with a larger length item.

Even the magnaflow Muffler I have in line after the Ultra Quiet is only 24" long frown.gif

I will look into a solution, but for now I can live with how loud it is.

They have the 4x9 oval that's 20" overall length, which there should be room for it's just a matter of configuration.

I'm trying to think of some canister/glasspack shaped mufflers that have baffles... Perhaps something from Flowmaster, Dynomax/Thrush, or Holley/Hooker/Flowtech would work. I recall one of them having something that'd probably be ideal but I'll have to flip through all of their catalogs here in a minute.

I guess I was imagining things, Flowmaster has a few but they're also labeled as straight-through and the same with Dynomax. I could've sworn someone had a baffled round muffler that wasn't ginormous. I'll try and look some more.

Yup!....with the hood spaced a few mm's

I am not sure how close it actually is and if it would make contact if the hood wasnt spaced
