Box needs a first gen Celica liftback. It's perfect! Japanese reliability, 4 cylinder efficiency, classic muscle car looks, liftback practicality. It's perfect!

It's probably too slow for him tongue.gif.

I had thought about getting a 1st gen liftback, but I never could find one. I'd still like a 280Z(X) as well, but they're few and far between as well. Same with the MKIII Supra or any other car I want.

One of the transmission guys is insistent that the filter type is the cause, but I really don't see how. What the Hell, what's another $25 for another filter and fluid at this point. Third weekend in a row dropping the pan, let the recurring nightmares begin.

Which is funny because I drive like an old man anyway. I just like to get to speed in a brisk manner without drama, if that makes any sense.

More like Boobaru! The average American drives 15,000 miles a year in the same car, so it's not your fault.

Get a set of Cooper Zeon RS3-S, wait for a sale if possible since Cooper is always doing specials, and then get a lifetime alignment at Firestone.

Went and grabbed more tractor fluid, and on the way I noticed a "buy here pay here" car lot has a white '96-99 Celica for sale. I almost stopped and looked for ****s and giggles, but it's probably an automatic anyway.

BUT WHAT IF ITS NOT!?!?

Srsly thou, if you do give up and get rid of it (and the miata if that is still lying around)... what sort of money would you be looking at for something new?

Could start looking for a clean, black swap-ready GT.....

Or get a NB miata / NC Miata with a hard top..... all of the good bits with some added decency from the factory tongue.gif

Still have the Miata, I only just recently had cleaned it up and have put it up for sale. Even if the filter really is the issue, though it is the only variable left, I just don't know anymore. The thing drinks more than Charlie Sheen out of rehab and that's with me babying it, it's just madness. How much I could get for it depends on if the transmission starts working again magically or not.

I'm just not feeling FWD though, it's too much fun rotating the rear with the loud pedal. I might look into a NB Miata, but I'd really like one with the matching hardtop if I were to. That or I might get a fourth gen as it has everything I wanted to do with the second gen from the factory. MR2 would work as well, but like with the Supra and 280ZX they're near impossible to find.

Ewww. It'd be different it were like the RX7 2+2 and they just squeezed in the rear seat, but Nissan killed the body lines by elongating the Z cars.

Changed the oil and filter in the 914 today. It needed it badly. It hasn't been changed since I got it 4 years ago. Also replaced the strainer basket and gaskets. Soon I'll redo the plugs and wires with some NGKs and give it a little tune up.

Ended up going to a car show thing hosted by Team Corvette with my brother in his Genesis, figured would be nice to do something halfway fun before futzing with the transmission again.

I stayed at home and studied for my last exam tomorrow.... but my friend came over and picked up my miata and the replacement dif I bought with the shorter ratio and Torsen LSD and has been installing it for me. He is about to head out now, so it should be finished by the time I get out of my exam tomorrow!

Also, I've been driving the Celica in the mean time.

Didn't get much time to mess with it today since went over and visited father for father's day, but did manage to get the filter changed out. I finally figured out why the fluid was getting dirty so quick, found pieces of friction material this time in the pan. It's not the o.e. type material (it's black with graphite) so it was rebuilt, they just didn't space the friction discs enough so it's just going to shred itself apart... The Dacron filter was already filled up with trash. Topped it off anyway and it'd actually lurch again when placed into gear and take off without revving it too much, pretty much how it was before. Knowing what's happening though the transmission probably won't last long at all so I don't even know what to do anymore.
