Guy in Louisiana off eBay should be coming Thursday or Friday to get the Miata. Meant to to call the older gentleman about the Firebird, but I felt so bad today I didn't feel like calling much less showing the car. Really need to tomorrow as the friend of the one buying the Miata is interested in it apparently.
I don't know, I'm just not really a truck guy though. It'd be different if I utilized the truck aspect maybe, but it'd see no different use than a car would. Probably still leaning towards a fourth gen more than anything else. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

I know it's supposed to be a "sports truck" and all, but I've never liked riding in any truck or SUV much less driving one, so I'm not sure how much a difference it'd make. Rides/drives like a truck aren't compliments for a reason.
If one would pop up semi-locally I'd give it a go, I'm sure I could find a regular Tacoma but from what I read there was a decent amount changed for the X-Runner. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Well finished call with eBayer from Louisiana and scheduled to pick it up on Friday somewhere between 2-3 in the afternoon. So I'll have one less thing to futz with and I get money to go towards something else.

Someone really needs to force me to call this guy about the Firebird. I need to sell it, but there's that lingering part of me that doesn't want to. I guess jumping on eBay and Craigslist ahead of time to see what was out there probably wasn't the best idea. No Supra, SC300, or 280ZX and like one T56 car that's ragged out. Definitely looks promising...

I lost 4k trading the sti. And im happy. Why. I needed to. Bad choice for me. I was ok until my surgery. And the tire issue. Why do you insist on keeping a car that will nickle and dime you. I cut my losses and moved on.

I guess partially it was fulfillment of a lifelong dream. Not the exact car, but the car itself. I never thought I'd be able to have one anytime soon worth owning. That and the fact I can't turn around and buy what I want doesn't help things. I know I need to sell it though, and if the older gentleman is the one that buys it I know it'll be going to a good home.
I guess that's the other part, I've accepted more defeat than someone my age should have to. I'm never going to be able to do much with my life now thanks to this disease, most employers don't like employees that can't show up for days at a time without notice for some reason. I'm probably going to die alone, what woman will want to be with someone that can barely support himself? I can't do things spontaneously, and even planned things aren't guaranteed. I can't have children, well I could but odds are I'd pass on the genetic ****storm that comprises me. I never really thought about wanting kids, but knowing I really don't have the option anymore unless I want to be selfish kind of sets things in stone. Even if I had perfectly healthy kids, I couldn't keep up and rear them and fulfill my responsibilities anyway. I have fifty years or more of watching my body continuing to degrade and then I die. To put things into perspective a little over two weeks ago I was painting the shaker scoop for the Firebird and barely two coats in I couldn't press the nozzle anymore because the tendon that goes through the wrist and arm was so swollen my finger just wouldn't move right anymore. Can't even do something like that anymore now... I may not be able to drive a manual now given that incident, but damned if I'm not going to try. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Well got it over with and called the guy about the Firebird. Old people are really direct by the way. He asked what I wanted and I said that I was planning on placing it on eBay for $4,000 OBO and see what happens. Then he's like, "What's your real price boy?" At first I was like what... Then I told him $3,000. So tomorrow will be eventful between the guy from Louisiana getting the Miata from 2-3, and then whenever he decides to drop by and look at the Firebird.

Stop it bitter. Youll make him change his mind.
Box i did not mean to accept defeat from your medical problems. I have pain everyday now since the back surgery and i cannot or wont lift anythin heavier than 30 pounds. Im afraid. I accepted defeat that i cannnot drive a car that is giving mechanical problems and exacerbated my back issues. Life still goes on. At least i can walk. And proud to say i dont depend on pain medicine despite the fact i herniated a disc!!! Dont accept defeat from life. Get drunk... -------------------- Learned a lot in 10 years... $3,000 is my breaking even point, he wanted my no bull**** no haggling price and that's it. If he wants to try and offer less I'll be more than happy to place it up front in the yard and up on eBay for $4,000-4,500 OBO and see what rolls in. If it weren't for the damn rebuilt transmission ****ting the bed I'd probably just keep it as a weekend car and drive it during the Fall and Winter since there's no A/C currently. I didn't want to start too high because of it needing the trans rebuilt again now, I don't want to be one of those people...
I stopped taking Savella, fibro medicine, as it wasn't doing me any good, all it did was give me hot-flashes and messed with my taste receptors among other things. The pain med they will give me, hydrocodone, doesn't do a damn thing, and they won't give me what works, morphine, because "I'm young and have my life ahead of me for the pain to be managed." Well assholes I'm not in relief now, so why not start me on morphine that will give relief and just continue to up it until I'm legally maxed out. You have my mom as a prime example along with my grandfather, we have high tolerances to medications and we're constantly in pain so we need a **** load of medication for it to have an effect. Mom is on 360mg of morphine a day and my grandfather is at 400mg, and both still constantly hurt. Also have Zanaflex and Flexeril that sometimes take the edge off when it's really bad. Sad thing is what usually helps the most is a hot bath, more than the damn fibro pharmaceuticals that're $160 a month... Ironically mom found where drinking moderately is supposed to help with fibromyalgia. Which brings another point, getting drunk would require alcohol poisoning so I only drink if I like the taste. Like apple cider and the stuff from Mike's. This post has been edited by Box: Jul 23, 2015 - 9:39 PM -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

The more I think about it the more I'm having my doubts with the old man. On the phone I was saying how the trans lost drive when I was going to the fuel station the other day and he was like, "Well that'll be like $1,200-1,500 to fix right there." For one the whole world knows you can do a core exchange plus $500-600 for a rebuilt TH350 at most any trans shop, and secondly you told me you had a shop that you'd be going through everything anyway. For some reason now I'm getting the distinct feeling I'm going to be quite pissed off sometime later this afternoon.

He's going to try to keep pushing it lower and lower because you dropped 1000 right off the bat so easy, he thinks he can push you around to what he wants to pay now. You need to stand firm at your 3,000 because he's going to push and push hard. You can just tell him right off the bat that the price is 3,00 and if that's not what he wants to pay he can go find another car. From there, do NOT haggle down at all. There are other buyers.

I'm not because I'll be like, "You wanted my no bs no haggle price and that was it, so take it or I'll sell it to one of thousands that'll be happy to probably pay more."
I've looked around Craigslist and unless you have $8,000+ my car is the best out there in the range. Here's one guy on some drugs: http://bham.craigslist.org/cto/5101826073.html Here's one on the same amount or maybe less drugs: http://montgomery.craigslist.org/cto/5097534344.html This one isn't too far off but it's missing some important/expensive pieces, they botched it with a sunroof, and the engine sounds bad: http://shoals.craigslist.org/cto/5132789151.html I'm just trying to be realistic unlike the first two I posted, I realize it needs $400-600 for the trans to be rebuilt/swapped with a shop. Maybe $1,200-1,500 if you took the whole car to a garage, but in that case it's only $80 for an o.e. ATP master kit... On a more positive note the one from Louisiana is on his way and should be here in about two hours with $800.

Old man just dropped by and looked the car over. Had the hood up and he asks me does it run? I was like of course, the engine is perfect. I hopped in, pumped the pedal once, and it fired right over as if it were fuel injected. The look on his face was priceless. After he has me turn it off he asks what do I want, I tell him I plan to put it on eBay for $4,000 OBO. He asks $4,000? Then I told him after looking on Craigslist this morning anything under $4,000 is a piece of crap. He said he'll have to talk to his shop and will get back to me.
