Already used my listing so will let it ride out. I started looking into the TH350C and it intrigues me, lockup should be good for a 2 mpg gain on the highway. With a trans that won't be shredding itself apart and lockup I should get mid teens. tongue.gif

I'll have to look into it, I have never heard of it before though.

I think the TH400 also had the lockup like that, those were found in motor homes and are built like a brick ****house.

Sadly there was never a TH400C, there was a TH200C/TH250C and then all of the overdrive transmissions also had converter lockup. I had thought about throwing in a TH400, but the last year to use one was the 1976 and I remember reading somewhere they redid the trans tunnel in 1977 so putting in a TH400 takes some effort.

If I end up buying a used trans just to swap in and make life easy it will be a TH350C, and then I'll add a switch next to the shifter for manual lockup control. If by some miracle I could get upper teens out of it that wouldn't be so bad. Knowing now that getting low teens with it shredding itself apart it should get pretty decent with a good trans, and especially with a lockup converter.

Just looked and there was a TH375C, which would've been used in heavy duty applications.

I hate people that can't bother reading. Had some idiot send an offer of $3,000 and then a little later get a message saying they assumed it was ready to go since the engine and trans were swapped and that they changed their offer to $1,000... So much self restraint had to be used when replying... It's like the second sentence, right after it states it was swapped. ****ing moron go do the world a favour and shoot yourself.

Now that I've released my rage in a proper manner it looks like I'll start looking for a TH350C locally and somewhere to do the work. If I could somehow get 18-20 mpg highway out of it that would be great all things considered. Still would need to figure out A/C but it should start cooling off soon and I'd have a few months to get it sorted.

I feel ya. When I sold my civic on craigslist I had to deal with a couple of idiots. It's irritating.

This is why I avoid Craigslist, used to eBay wasn't full of idiots but it seems that's changed as of late. This is why I hate selling and buying cars with a burning passion. Yes the car needs a transmission again, but you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a few used ones for sale for $200. There's a few on my local Craigslist right now, but if I'm buying a whole other transmission it'll be the TH350C to get converter lockup. I wish I had the gall of some people that send offers. $1,000 really... The body or engine alone is worth more than that. $1,000 will get you a rusted out shell missing just about everything. Had one guy send $500, I wanted to jump through the computer and strangle them. Of course I have it set to automatically decline lowballers so I personally don't have to decline, because if I did I'm afraid I'd tell them what I really think about them...

That's what kills me, I could list it for something stupid and people would still want money off. Maybe I'm weird but if their asking a fair price I don't bother negotiating.

Well, there's a 6-speed WS6 on eBay that's only 45 miles away but it would be bright red... That's ok can't get it anyway unless mine were to sell. Which I've noticed this time around it's getting more views and watchers sooner, hopefully one actually wants it. If not I'll go with my plan of finding a TH350C, which were used from 1980-1986 apparently so if that proves too difficult I'll just redo mine. That 10-20% increase in efficiency while cruising would be nice though...

Today I was in consideration of purchasing an 88 all trac from watsonville http://sfbay.craigslist.org/scz/cto/5168178804.html

Guy seemed ok, until I saw some other posts of his http://www.alltrac.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=50778

But more importantly http://www.alltrac.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=50326

also important http://www.alltrac.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=8&p=469748

All this considered, I'm assuming he is a racer who uses old cars to the point of no return, slaps a new motor in it and claims its flawless and demands top dollar.

yesterday and the evening before I turned my wiper cowl and under hood black textured plastics black again with Forever Black. Really easy to work with and gives nice results after reading some tips and tricks. My new front emblem came the other day and tonight I'm going to drop some coats of Metalcast red on it after work so I can start letting it dry for the suggested 1 week before clearing it. No rushing this one.

Mazda is at the shop, found one rear brake issue. Leading side of the left rear wheel cylinder was locked up and the trailing side was leaking muddy fluid. Already have new cylinders, hardware, and shoes. Not even going to cut the drums right now, I'll get some new ones again and properly prep and paint them so they stay black for more than 2 years.

Forever Black. laugh.gif

Sucks about the brake issue, going is fun but stopping is even better.

Was looking at the BMW E36 328is and E46 330ci and I think the engine bay is worse than the 4th gen F-body... Just as much if not more of the motor is behind the firewall, and all of the covers. That's ok the Mercedes-Benz C230 isn't much better. Yet the Miata has plenty of engine bay room, just not enough room for me. Trying to remember if the NB my uncle had was any roomier, I seem to recall it was for some reason even though in specs they're not any different.

There's room for a turbo so thats all that matters.

Don't see how on the E46:

Even the E36 isn't much better:

At least the back two cylinders of it aren't tucked in under the firewall like the E46...

Ahhh ok, well I had said it had plenty of room toward the end so I thought you meant the BMW with what you said. tongue.gif

I'd consider a '99-00 in Twilight Blue. Oooh pretty:

Would be better with black interior and a hardtop though.
