I am getting info on a possible swap. I seen a thread with pics and the video (K-ESD)

The 3MZ-FE has higher horsepower but not good for turbo.
The 3VZ-FE has lower horsepower but is a good solid motor, and with a cam and other parts can get the same hp as the MZ
I would want to use the E153 Tranny

How much would something like this cost realistically?
I could fix mine and just stay stock with an auto

I've had an itch to do a swap ever since I had a Supra about 8 years ago but I am also realistic!

EDIT:

I have seen the info from the following thread: http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=45161

What I'm looking for is a realistic cost factor.

I know there are some enthusiests in Texas, and I may be moving there within the next year. If that happens then I would probably convert the car to manual tranny for now (tranny is bad) and then do a swap later on.

VZ is old and outdated, used an iron block. The MZ replaced it, so that should give you your answer. Aluminum block will hold more than enough power before it'd require a bunch of parts that don't even exist for either motor. The 1MZ is popular since it's cheap and readily available and still uses a a cable operated throttle body, so that makes life easy. If you get lucky you can find a rearended Camry or Solara with the 1MZ and E153. Smaay, Lamont, and kurt95gt have all done V6 swaps. Smaay and Lamont are more active, I know Lamont has a really detailed build thread and Smaay and kurt also have threads of the like. One thing you might want to try and do is find the TRD supercharger that was used on various vehicles with the 1MZ. I wouldn't mind the TRD Solara myself with the supercharged 1MZ and E153 behind it, but those are so rare it's not funny.

If you're wanting to stay auto then definitely just grab the 1MZ, find a Camry or Sienna or what have you that's been hit in the rear and they're selling it for next to nothing as it'll have everything you need. You'll need one custom engine mount, but Smaay makes them. Or at the least he was.

Hey Box thank you so much for the info. I'd love to go manual and think if I get a transmission for the 5SFE for now, then it'll be ready for a 1MZ and E153. I would love Supercharged and sounds like I would need to play the lottery in order to find one lol

You know off hand what the HP at the wheels are with the supercharger?

This is why I wanted to gather as much information as possible. I would like to make a list of parts that are needed and make sure that I have everything and the space for it.

The 3MZ was seen in a thread because it has the HP but sounds like a lot can be done with the 1MZ and it is a bit easier to put in.

I ended up doing the 1MZFE swap with a LSD E153 transmission from a Caldina into my 94 GT because my motor popped. I was thinking the same thing supercharger or future 1MZ/3MZ Hybrid swap similar to Smaay in the future. To be honest I am satisfied with the 1MZ at the moment. It is so much more powerful and torque is great anytime you want it. Don't get me wrong you always can go for more hp, but I think I'm done unless a 3MZ falls into my lap for peanuts laugh.gif

You can also use the S54 from a GT if you can't find an E153. The 1MZ used in the Lexus ES300 made 210 hp thanks to a different tune that required 91, the Solara made 200 on 87, and then the Camry and Sienna etc... made 195 on 87. The supercharger brought it to 242 hp and 242 ft lbs, but obviously there's room for easy power. Even the average 1MZ with 200 hp and 214 ft lbs is plenty in a 2,500 pound FWD car though. Any of the the factory V6 cars weighed 3,000+ pounds. The fastest one I can think of offhand is the VQ35DE Maxima with the 6-speed, it'd keep up with the GT Mustang of the time and hit 60 in mid 5's.
