Depending on how new you want or how much you're looking to spend there's also the Acura 3.2CL, then there's the Nissan Altima Coupe V6, and then you have the Infinity G35/37 as well. Though the CL only had a 6-speed on a certain year or two(2003-6?) and I'd imagine it'd be hard to find in the Altima as well. Another option would be the Hyundai Genesis Coupe that has either a turbocharged 2.0 I4 or a 3.8 V6. If it were me I'd be looking at either the Infiniti, Hyundai, or a S197 Mustang GT. Being able to rotate the rear with the throttle is too much fun to give up. Ohh, another good option if you don't mind an auto and a little bit older of a car would be the '98-00 Lexus SC400.

I had honestly thought about finding a sc400 but out here most of them are on 22's and aren't the most well taken care of.

For the most part I'm trying to avoid anything turbo'd or modified in any way. I saw a BMW recently go in for turbo maintenance and the cost of over 10 grand redface.gif

The genesis has similar problems over here as the RSX, being heavily modified with loud ass exhausts. It's a cool car, but the depreciation hasn't hit the market yet and the people i've seen associated with them aren't really my type of crowd (meaning it's a bunch of sideways hat loud ass exhausts unwarrented tattoo young reckless people)

The altima is a cool car that I didn't even think about, I'll look around thx box

/edit: holy poop batman the RSX has some great deals, check this out http://modesto.craigslist.org/cto/5171779059.html It's an 04 with ~85,xxx miles for 6,500

Or this type s for 6,500 http://sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/5198772151.html 99,xxx miles

Or this type s for 6,300 http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/5216136759.html but this one needs a clutch, still less than ~100,xxx miles tho

My brother has a '12 Genesis Coupe 2.0 that he's modded a little, but it's all been bolt on stuff. It's a fairly nice car. I think he paid $17,000 or so over a year ago and it had around 20,000 miles and was certified so all of the factory warranties carried over. I've seen them in the low teens now with around 50,000 miles without being certified. So far he's put on over 20,000 miles with no issues yet. I ended up going to a car show with the club he's a member of and everyone was nice and from what I saw their cars were done tastefully.

I think it's really a matter of location, you could probably travel out east a little to get one stock. That'd be any car really. Where I live everyone with a SC400 seems to be older people that've babied them and have good maintenance history, if it weren't for the fact they were automatic only I'd get one for sure. Also any maintenance on a BMW at a dealership is going to be ungodly, regardless of what's powering it.

Thought of another car which would be the FR-S/BRZ but it seems to be hit and miss with a lot of people. There's also the Toyota Solara, but it only had the V6 and manual from '99-02. The Accord Coupe offered the V6 and manual during the same period as the CL and then from '08 to '10 or '11 I think. Another option might be the Cadillac CTS coupe as I'd think any equipped with a manual should be ok as far as who's owned them. If you're looking at the RSX I'd also look at the 7th gen Celica. Being you're ok with FWD you should be able to find a good car for the money somewhere out there.

Just put two and two together with you being in California and the CR-Z. That'd probably be a really good choice for you as you'd get all kind of benefits and tax breaks with it being a hybrid. If I had to get a hybrid it's what I'd get since you can actually get a manual transmission with it, that or it's predecessor the '00-06 Insight. As far as the rear seats go they should be a bolt in affair if you really need them, would just be a matter of getting them off a JDM market car.

Started the search for a used Chevrolet TH350, so I guess it's a matter if I sell it first or find one and fix it and then keep it. Though if I keep it there's so many things I need to do before I'm comfortable driving it for long distances, physically and mentally. For one I need seats with recline and some side support, the stock seats are horrendous. Also need to at least get the blower motor replaced so I have heat and can bring in outside air which is better than nothing. I'd also like to improve the crash safety somehow since it's my daily driver, I won't do anything to warrant it but you never know with everyone else out on the road. I refuse to take it onto the interstate for that reason, which I'm just not a fan of the interstate regardless of what I'm in but being in something with late 70's crash safety technology I really don't want to take it beyond 50 mph. Would want to do a disc conversion on the rear along with Hydroboost. Would also want to upgrade the suspension and put on 17's with modern high performance tires. Eventually a manual conversion with a hydraulic clutch would be in order, and then fuel injection.

Maybe I am better off selling it after all...

sell it. you need a car, think about it. you need a car... not a sports car, not a rare car, not a rally car.

be realistic, and set feet on ground. why do you keep insisting on manual, when changing gears and clutching will be a problem, lowered suspension and performance tires, make the ride harsher.

get a car, thats comfortable, that has ac and takes you from a to b. Once you get better, then worry about modifications.

I won't get better unless they come up with a cure, which I doubt seeing as they've yet to come up with a cure for cancer among other diseases which are probably higher up on the priorities list. It's only going to get worse, at least now on the days I can drive I can still drive a manual. On the bad days I can't drive or won't as it compromises my ability to handle the car in an emergency situation. Most of any needed driving is on the highway so a light clutch really shouldn't pose any more of an issue than walking around the grocery store. I don't do knee jerk clutching like some people, smooth and easy transition for multiple reasons. Something like the 300ZX, SC300, or 328is would be comfortable and have an easy clutch.

The Firebird is actually comfortable to drive current seats aside, well that and no AC. Part of replacing the transmission would be to make selling it easier, if I can find an used working transmission for $200 then I'd say it's probably money well spent. I found somewhere that sells rebuilt TH350's off eBay for $450 OBO plus a core, but they're in Rogersville, Tennessee.

Made love to my Celica, washed it thoroughly and clay barred half of it, ran out of energy and detailing spray and down to my last lump of clean clay so I called it quits. I'll walk over and get another clay kit, cheaper to buy the mothers kit than it is to buy the detail spray and clay separate AND it comes with a nice MF towel to boot!

Well, I'll still look for another TH350 as I try to sell it. The only newer car with an auto I'd remotely care for would be the '98-00 SC400. Otherwise I rather have something like a Z32 with a 5-speed.

Have to get the Firebird sold first, replacing the trans will help that. Or keep driving it and replace the seats and blower motor and it'll be fine until Summer rolls around again.

Today I went to go see two cars, an RSX & a Fiat Abarth. RSX was beautiful and pristine, but literally as I had my head in the engine the asshat sales man who kept me waiting for an hour & half told me the car has just been sold.

The Fiat Abarth was atrocitious, it sounds fine, looks fine, fine steering response. The clutch travel is far more than I thought it would be, also it was on the heavier side & very dull feeling. The shifter was so rubbery that it gave little notification if it was in gear. I mean it was a little notchy but you'd need to know that car intimately before you ever get confident with it, which is just a drag. Also the throw's were so long that going from 1st to second I actually hit my elbow on the side bolster.

Currently giving an excellent review to the dealership that showed me the Abarth & a terrible one to Acura of Oakland, people who could care less about your time.

Today I did a test drive of an RSX. Unfortunately it wasn't in the condition I had hoped it was, but it was beautiful non the less. Its very much so like the Celica, only superior in every way. Steering was on the heavy side, but no complaints here.

I'm hoping for better luck next time

Today I'm taking a 2015 Genesis 5.0 for a test drive. Tired of the Santa Fe, too mom-mobile.

Before I bought my 2000 Celica GTS (7-8 years ago), I test drove the RSX-S. As far as acceleration goes, they felt about the same. Loved the Celica's seats, crisp steering, and sleek look, that's why I came home with it after a 10 minute test drive. The only thing I hated was the CHEAP materials used for the interior and also the useless backseats. At the time I had a daughter and I hated having to bend in and put her in her car seat. Overall, very fun car to drive but I did end up selling it after a few months for a 91' MR2 Turbo.

GL on your RSX search. It's definitely a fine car!

So you bitched about the back seat in the Celica and then bought a MK2 MR2.

That was my thought. tongue.gif From what I recall the rear seats in the Integra and RSX aren't any better. The RSX has better interior over the 7th gen Celica, but the 6th gen is better than the Integra and RSX but is neutered in stock USDM trim. Personally I rather find a nice 6th gen GT and throw in a 1MZ and call it a day.

So far no luck on finding a trans or people calling back wanting to buy the Firebird. I just wish I felt up to working on it more often. Once the heat/air, seats, and trans are sorted it'll be a good car until Summer rolls around. Though from what my father was saying even with it blowing under 40º out of the vents it didn't do much good in the Summer because its high speed setting was like a new car's low-medium speed. His 10th Anniversary had T-tops though, so that didn't help matters but still... I'm thinking maybe painting it white and then cloth seats instead of the vinyl would help, then having it atleast blow in outside air and with the windows down it won't be unbearable doing the short trips I do during the heat of the day in Summer. During the Summer I usually wait until later in the day, and I wouldn't want to take it on longer trips for obvious reasons.
