Hey got a 94 celica it ran out of gas one day filled it with gas the next morning started it up and it was making this noise I have a video I'll try to upload of the sound but currently taking it apart to diagnose it. Thinking a may be a rod or rocker arm problem.

You ran out of gas or engine oil? That engine sounds broken inside like it's been ran without oil or has no oil.

Yeah that does not sound good. May be rebuild or swap time. I just went through this with mine this summer.

Side note, I thought that was my car for a minute in that video lol. I also think I have a picture of your car on my computer from somewhere lol. Downloaded it because it reminded me of mine...

This is it right?

Looks exactly like my car just how it used to be maybe it was a previous owner but that's definitely her haha.

Figured it was a rod so should I just do the rebuild kit or what's the best option after this my trans is already pretty much dead too wanting to go to manual also

You can find these engines for pretty cheap out of Celicas, Camrys, MR2s, so I would just go that route. That's what I did when my 5S started knocking, although I just re-used my tranny.

No. Rebuild will require over 1000 in parts and labor. Used engine can be half that. If your trans is dying then I highly suggest manual swap.

What transmission should I look for if in doing the manual swap and what motor should I pair it with. I've already got everything off so I can pull my engine I'm just waiting on the hoist.

You have 1 choice for manual trans, the stock s54. You will need all 3 mounts. Stick with the same engine
