Yeah I'll try to get closer pics today or tomorrow for you. Unfortunately Wisconsin isn't too friendly to old cars...it had a little spot on each door and wheel well when I bought it two years ago and it got a bit worse.

Is rust really going to deter interested buyers that much? I mean, come on. The price is very right. I got my Celica for $1500 earlier this year and yes, it came with a bit of rust. Rust can be fixed. It'll cost a few hundred depending on how much rust and where it's located, but once it's fixed, it's a memory. Considering the price, I think someone should go for this. It looks fine aside from the rust and it definitely has potential. I myself would probably offer an even grand for it if I were looking to buy.

The problem with rust is not just limited to the body rust - that I could bear, even leave as is. The bigger problem is that where there's usually body rust, all the nuts and bolts are not much better. Any time you go to replace a part that should take you 15 min, you strip a bolt and now your 15 min problem turns into 4 hour project of extracting broken studs, running to the store for bolts, recovering the threads, and cursing - a lot. This is why I would personally try to look for a car with as little rust as possible.

So that rules out certain percentage of buyers. Now you're left waiting for folks who just want to purchase a transportation tool that will get them from A to B, until they run it into the ground. Unfortunately those folks aren't looking to pay top dollar as they know they will run the car into the ground and scrap it for $150.

I'm not trying to beat you up over your car, just answering your question. Have some patience. These are sporty cars that aren't for everybody - a Camry probably would have long sold by now. Good luck!

Sorry it's been raining hard here the last few days, haven't gotten more pictures. Agreed on the rust. Not a big deal for some people, but the exterior CAN be telling of the mechanics. I think this is appropriately priced, but like you said slavie, hard to find buyers for a sporty 2dr in November.

Good pics! It's a nice Celica, man. I'm sure a buyer will come along. And I can understand how exterior rust could be a sign of more unseen rust. Judging from it's location it seems to be typical rust for northern cars. Optionally, I'd raise the car and take a peek underneath to see if there's any underlying problems concerning that, but overall I think it's a solid car for a good price. It'd be a shame if someone bought it just to run it into the ground. Hopefully an enthusiast comes along and wants to spiff 'er up. =)
