boost leaks are a constant threat. enjoy the ssqv, I love mine

I cant even describe the power differences from a major boost leak to now. It blows me away! The ssqv is definitely been a wonderful upgrade, I'm positive it will be enjoyed!

LET THERE BE LAUNCH CONTROL!!

This has long been in the plans since I rode in my friends evo 8 many years back. I opted to go with a company called OMEX, they are based out of the UK and have made many great products including rev limiters/ launch control.
I went this route as apposed to stand alone due to this being a street car and will only be used for audible fun, not actually for launches. Install was very straight forward, positive coil wire, negative coil wire, ground and ground for the launch control switch.
It is a two function box, including a rev limiter and launch control activated via a button. There are many features packed in this little guy that actually gives me piece at mind while driving the car. I now lowered the max rev limit to 6,900 rpm with a soft cut.
The launch feature, is currently set to 3,400 rpm with a hard cut setting. Hard cut vs soft cut is simply put, soft allows the limiter to ease into the limit while hard cut gets straight to the point.


The box is well sorted, nothing short of a great product


Box includes everything you need to install, ecu box, switch, sticker and manual


Here you can see the two wires that make the magic happen. Myself being so picky I didn't cut any wires. I pulled back the casing and soldered the wires to the coil wires, then heat shrinking them. The larger black wire get connected to the red wire off the box and the white wire with blue trace gets the blue wire off the box.


Once the wires were soldered and wrapped I routed them through the wire loom hole and into the glove box where the box was mounted.


I installed the launch button in the center console to keep it discreet and out of the way. My first impression of this system is ease of use and over all function. I didn't use the rev limit portion but I tested the launch function. Results are extremely amusing and addicting, keep in mind that the launch feature can only be used for 15 sec to protect the box, coil, and engine. I will play with it a bit more to allow more pops bangs and flames. As stated before this is only going to be used for audible enjoyment

Bad as in I wouldn't do it for an extended period of time. In the manual they advise not using it for over 15 sec to prevent the launch control box from getting to hot. All this system does is theoretically make a temporary rev limiter, which functions almost identical to any car on the road. The only difference being is that is can be set via a button.

but when its set on 3500rpm, does it also build up boost ?

I have it set to 3,000rpm now and the ebc reads 0 so no boost is being made. Its nothing like anti-lag, just a simple rev limiter that is adjustable.

ah ok...well for just using for the pops and bangs its good enough

I was terrified!! But its done, and I love it! (Turned out 'okay' for a rattle can)

Nicely done.

Got a few things done this weekend. Installed the new thermostat and flushed the cooling system, added a TRD radiator cap for both the radiator and intercooler (yes I know its pointless on the intercooler)
Waxed the car and cleaned the suspension and engine bay up nice. Now the wait continues for my wheels... literally counting the minutes

I have a few things left to get done before spring such as new synthetic gear oil, oil change, and find my mysterious one drop a month oil leak.

Did I mention I'm still waiting on my wheels
