so now that I have begun the process of recoating and have been partially reimbursed I can tell the story
I took off time at work last Monday to drop of the wheels at Wheels America (in Philly traveling from MD) to be re-coated. I was referred to them by Forgeline Wheels after being told they are one of the only companies that do low temp coating. I got a call Wednesday that they were all done. I asked how they came out and they said fine, and that they ended up whiter than the Gram Lights which was what I wanted. I figured the Gram Lights had a little UV yellowing over the years. Took off work early on Friday to go up and pick them up. Came in the door any they were sitting on the concrete floor in the "showroom". Ill insert the pics here as they describe how they look better than my words damage from setting them on the concrete floor Incase you are unaware of the situation or how powdercoating works. I asked for white. This is what I got. This is not White. The hub faces werent originally painted...and they painted them. THAT is a no no. They apparently had trouble stripping the inner barrel and that was the reason it turned out that way. I was told "We figured it wouldnt be a problem because the shadow of the brakes and the brake dust would cover it up" Thats like asking for wheels to be painted black and they show up orange and being told that the brake dust will make them black no big deal. He offered to have them try again but couldn't guarantee that they'd turn out any better. I promptly paid and left. I called monday to talk to the manager but he was "busy" I called and called and never was able to get ahold of him so I called their Corporate office in Texas and in a matter of minutes I was given a sincere apology and worked out a partial refund (the one thing they DID do right was fix the curb rash on the wheels) to help cover the cost of re-powdercoating them Dropped off the wheels this afternoon at a local place (they were astonished at the terrible job on them) They are working with me to try and push them through to get them done by friday so I can mount them this weekend This post has been edited by Tigawoods: Apr 12, 2016 - 5:21 PM -------------------- 1995 GT::::Diffusing the Situation エキサイティングカーレーシングチーム! march 2010 COTM : 6GC feature 2014 : january 2015-2016-2018 COTM |

So I think I'm in the minority.
What's wrong with the old cluster ? Why is that one better than the old ? Just because it's digi and different ? It doesn't give better or more accurate info than stock, or even more info than stock, so why ? -------------------- |

Almost looks as if they were heavily sprayed with paint. And WHY would they just set them on the floor!!??

I would call Forgeline and politely recommend they don't refer their customers to idiots that mangle their rims.

So I think I'm in the minority. What's wrong with the old cluster ? Speedo Doesnt work Why is that one better than the old ? The Speedo Works Just because it's digi and different ? See Above It doesn't give better or more accurate info than stock, or even more info than stock, so why ? Joking aside one of the primary reasons was the Odometer. It can be changed. So now I can change the count and be exempt from emissions and save over $100 each year. Its VERY frustrating trying to find a shop in my area that does OBD1 dyno emissions testing. Also I have been having issues with Prosports gauges(And speedo). The oil pressure and water temp gauge and sensors have been malfunctioning and failing. And the gauge positions, although I like the look, are impractical as its totally out of my field of view. I also got a killer deal on it through my friends shop. Technically the digital dash gives a HEAP more detailed information than the OEM cluster and its warning lights(with some additional sensors beyond the ones provided in the kit) And it has 4 pages that can be customized to display different information. It can also be upgraded to support data logging. I still need to wire up the CEL and Fuel Lights to work on the LEDs I have on the cluster surround. And WHY would they just set them on the floor!!?? beyond my understanding I would call Forgeline and politely recommend they don't refer their customers to idiots that mangle their rims. That was what I was planning on doing tomorrow. Im glad they resolved the situation but the quality of work was how it was. I think a diffuser integrated into the car's rear bumper forming a lip from one end to the other would look snazzy, then some matching side skirts and a front spoiler with canards. Sadly I'm a lot better and imagining things than putting them down to be of any use. Of course it becomes a matter of making something functional while still looking good.

I dont think that would work with my exhaust. I am going to talk with a company about making a custom aluminum one for me. SADLY this diffuser has been basically flawless. UNTIL the first day I took it out last weekend I scraped it coming out of the driveway and again on the other side the day after. Dropping down that resale value Nano Tech? Think I need some for my white rims too Futuristic Materials! lol It works VERY well. Its basically like waxing your wheels but in this case its not a natural material (carnuba) and is all synthetic in this case making it a bit more durable and longer lasting. The dust comes right off with a towel. Hmm, yea didn't think about how your exhaust was done. Could still do it but there'd have to be an area curved around the exhaust. Aluminum would be nice though, but would be a royal pain to keep clean if you went with a polished finish.
