WHEN IT DOUBT BRAKE IT OUT

I finally pulled the trigger on a new set of brake pads. After 2 different sets of pads on this car I have become fed up with brake dust and performance. Oem pads stop okay, buy dust more than desired. TRD pads stop great, but dust more than a formula one car shedding speed off a 200mph straight. And lets not forget that all the above are some of the noisiest brakes I have ever heard. Its comparable to a full race setup at times!

Although to new to give a good review, I can already tell a vast improvement with the EBC red stuff pads. No noise, No dust, and a super hard initial grab. I still have 200ish miles left on the bedding of the pads but thus far the results are epic.

They also look amazing behind the darker wheels with the red OZ accent!

Just finished reading through the thread, for some reason it just now occurred to me I hadn't. I can appreciate the level of OCD, but like you need to find a matching passenger seat like yesterday. *starts twitching* Also woooo brakes, I need to get around to doing such myself.

Thanks! I agree 100% but my OCD levels are at an extreme right meow and finding a mint seat without putting me in financial doom is pretty hard. Every so often they come around, I have my eyes looking every day!

That's totally understandable, I remember looking for them at one point when I had my Celica and I was like "Nope, never mind."

Glad you got the brake dust and noise taken care of!

Indeed, it was a shame watching my wheels get coated badly withing 30-50 miles of normal light driving. Im pleased to say that's no longer the case!

Get that Jet Seal paint sealant Mike put on his RAYS! I looked into that stuff - it's straight witchcraft.

I will most likely get something. Right now I have zymoil wax on them, not enough witchcraft!

After 2 Months of contemplating, consulting with friends, I have decided....













Its time for Meth injection!
After a lot of thought I decided to go this route for a few reasons. First off is safety, it drastically reduces knock/detonation due to the lower intake charge being produced. Secondly, Water/Meth injection allows me to run my local 91 and still achieve "race gas" octane levels. The more I read into it the more it was a green light to go! But wait, let me slow your roll right here because after a month of this project starting, I have only gotten around to mounting the tank, pump, and some of the hose. Little did I know this project would be the most in depth thing my celica and I have ever gone through. Many measurements, many conversations with friends, and above all... custom parts that you almost have to guess measurements on. I took a lot of inspiration from "Enderswift", although our kits our different the fundamentals are the same. From a custom throttle body adapter, to ABA hose clamps, and even having to trim the inter-cooler piping. I hope within the next month to finish up, but I am still waiting on my Throttle body adapter.

I went for AEM's V2 kit, I read a lot of great things on this kit. And the fact that the internal MAP sensor has a more linear meth feed really sold me!


I opted to mount the tank and pump in the hatch. AEM guaranteed me that i would here the pump run. After install i can see why, The four rubber mounts it sits on dampens a lot of vibrations. As for the tank I mounted it on the passenger side with a metal bracket behind the plastic and also underneath to help support it.


I also went to the length to make sure the hose wouldn't be hanging around or get crushed so I drilled two quick holes to route my line through to keep it clean




For the first run I am going to try Snow Performances Boost Juice. In the meantime I will be looking for a windshield wash alternative


Although this rubber adapter will be replaced with a custom alloy one with the V2 injector, you can see the ABA clamps I will be using. They are not only thinner than a normal hose clamp but also they are very sturdy and strong!


Hopefully within the next few weeks I will get the remainder of my parts and get to wiring the V2 loom in. Once done with the wiring loom I will take the car out to test the function of the system without the injector installed. Fingers crossed I made the right measurements on the adapter!

also, does the aim kit offer a 90 degree nozzle? one of my concerns was clearance with the hood

I don't believe they do. I will be mounting it horizontally on the adapter. I noticed that it wouldn't fit right away when I planned this kit.

On another note the kit is installed, wiring is done alone with the meth hose routed. I went for a test drive with the injector on the windshield. Results are extremely amusing! I will upload a few pictures and a video tonight!

Unfortunately I couldn't upload the remainder of the pictures. I will have to take some more, but this is an example of the lengths I went to separate and make the complete loom into separate little harnesses using heat shrink tubing. I ran the pump and level wires to the trunk first along the door sill where the meth tubing is. Then the arm switch to the drivers side fuse panel, along with the led warning light on the dash. after that was finished up I rand the power and ground into the engine bay. I also heat shrunk the whole power wire to keep it as stealth as possible and ran it along the same rout as the oem car loom near the battery. As for the ground, I used a nice spot under the air filter to keep it accessible but still out of sight.

Unfortunately I received news that they adapter wont being in till next month so I disabled the system to insure I would be running the pump dry or spraying fluid everywhere!

Here is the test video with the V2 injector on the windshield. It was highly amusing watching the mist fly behind the car.... felt a bit James Bond-ish!

Few pictures I got to upload. Receive my rubber coupler today and also got some industrial Velcro to hold the meth controller in the glove box so its not moving around and the settings get whacked!


I tried to keep it as clean as possible with many zip ties and heat shrink. I heat shrunk all 4 wires to the trunk then split them off, two to the pump and two went to the tank level sensor. once they split i heat shrunk the pair. After all was soldered up i zip tied the whole loom to the meth feed line to insure no movement would be happening.


Using a fuse tap I found the cig/acc spot under the drivers fuse panel and wired in my trigger wire. This allows for the system to be armed as soon as the car is on. I originally planned a switch but my quest to keep it as discreet to others and even myself lead me to use this route.


Once the wiring was complete, I focused on a plan to make the meth tube as discreet as possible. Seeing as I wanted it to be in an optimal position in the car as well as out i ran it through the fire wall loom and hid it under the loom, then meeting up with a larger vacuum hose and right to the passenger side of the throttle body where the injector will be installed.


In other big news my friend who is a rel-estate photographer will be coming home in 2 weeks with his gear. We are planning some big stuff! Drones, 4k quality, and HDR shots!! Get ready for the ultimate gt4 video!

When doing extensive projects like this water/meth injection I always try to find something fun to incorporate with it....

Hey 6gc!

I decided a few weeks ago that the true performance of this car was unknown. The drag strip isn't my thing and although a good representation of how a car can perform it wasn't seeking the needs i was interested in. I did a little research and came across a company called QSTARZ, they make gps logging systems. I was immediately hooked and ordered one. This little guy can log at 10hz, display current speed, direction, g forces, 0-60 (or set a custom run), 1/4 mile times, lap times (you can even make your own track by driving) and much more! You also have the capability to hook it right to your laptop via a USB and view every detail of the run, lap, or log you completed! Needless to say I didn't hesitate to mount it in the car and go for a blast. Some of the results were shocking. I did a few 0-60 runs without a launch. and also found a nice parking lot to do some g force tests. After two runs I clocked an astonishing 5.158sec 0-60 time with a 1.038 g force load. Truly unbelievable for a 90's car. The next specs didn't surprise me as much, with the G force tires, tein springs, and whiteline rear sway bar I clocked a pretty conservative 1.02g's in a larger circle. The car is more that capable of pulling more, but i didn't want to meet the threshold of the tires just for a number.

Also in other news my throttle body adapter for the meth injection is finally done. Just waiting on it to arrive to complete the project and do some testing!









No launch, best 0-60 time of a gt4 I've seen.. with light mods
