So I don't like the shaking from the front mount insert, but I do like the absolute lack of snapping torque steer shifting at 8,000 RPM, the ability to power on throttle in a sharp turn without wheel hop, and the loss of the rubber band shift feel. I might be able to live with this. More testing needed!

As long as it doesn't shake bad enough that it feels/sounds like it's going to fall apart I think it's a worthwhile trade off.

Today I ordered some Power Stop brake pads front and back along with 4 quarts of ACDelco SynchroMesh and 4 ounces of ACDelco LSD additive. Woooooo, guess what I get to do this weekend. tongue.gif

I'm not really a fan of their ceramic pads, they really have a bad friction plateau that I dislike. As you apply more pedal they just don't stop any harder, which sucks, and is unlike semi-mets or my stoptech pads.

They were the cheapest performance pad, and I plan on chunking them when I eventually get around to putting on '98-02 spindles, calipers, and rotors. At any rate they'll be better than what's on there now.

Fair enough, you'll see what I mean once you have them broken in, and probably hate it as much as I do. I drove a few cars with them at work and that was plenty, had some job grade ceramics on my Mazda when I got it and they felt pretty much exactly the same. I wouldn't call Power Stop pads performance pads, not if stopping is the performance, but they'll do well enough I guess.

I hate touchy brakes, oh well figured it'd be better than economy grade pads and I didn't want to spend the money on the StopTech Sport or Raybestos EHT pads only to turn around and throw them away in a few months. Once it cools down enough outside I'll be going to Pull-A-Part when they have a few late 4th gens to takes the brakes off of.

MR2OC I believe is one of the good ones.

Transmission fluid and LSD additive arrived today, stopped by Hell-Mart and grabbed two quarts of Valvoline 80W-90 so at least now I'm ready to change all that.

Ordered my new driver side door check, $88 and it'll be in at the dealer on Tuesday. There is indeed a superseded part number some maybe it's a revised/improved design with better longevity! When the passenger wears out again I'll just get a new one for that side too.

Brake pads arrived today and I like how nowhere on or inside the box is the following break-in procedure mentioned: http://www.powerstop.com/brake-pad-break-in-procedure/

Meh, so long as they work ok enough until can get the brake conversion done I'll be content.

Want to do a tuneup on the Firebird since you're on a roll? tongue.gif

So about to order the rest of the stuff I need so then every last nitpicky thing will be over with and I'll know where everything stands. I was thinking about it the other night, but I'm not sure if I should just stay with DEX-COOL or attempt changing it over. So far 20 years of it and everything is still in good shape and operates as it should, so I feel as if I'd be tempting fate by trying to switch it over. Though supposedly the green anti-freezes out today are compatible with any and all coolants. I'm thinking I should just run a 70% distilled water and 30% DEX-COOL mix and call it real.
