I was running something off my ciggarrette lighter and blew out a fuse. I checked all of my fuses under the hood and in the car and they are all good. Does anyone know if there is a fuse in the ciggarrette lighter?

no theres no fuse in the cigarette lighter. if u rip out the center console around the shifter, ull see the wire that just plugs into the back of the lighter. its just an "L" shaped 2 prong splitter for positive/negative. the only fuse is at the fuse box. what were u running off the cigarette lighter? maybe that had a fuse in it and it blew.

I had this problem with a truck that I had a long time ago. I almost guarantee that it has nothing to do with whatever you had in your cigarette lighter plug, but there is a short somewhere in your wires. I couldn't tell you how to check all the wires, I'm not good with electrical stuff.

Well this is an old post but what the hey,  the cigarette lighter has a meltable link on the back under a rubber cover, it goes between the two terminals. When mine went out just recently, I cut it out and soldered a very thin wire -something like 22 or 24 gauge wire in it's place.
