Noticed my tires seemed low, down to 28 from 30, so aired them up to 35 to see if that helps the feel and with removing some rolling resistance. If I end up not liking it will just let some air back out.

Looks good, it's officially a Subaru now. tongue.gif I've always really liked the WRX blue with gold rims though, it's how I'd have to an Impreza coupe.

I prefer green haha. Honestly I didn't know how I would feel about the gold. I got this set with tires cheap and they happened to br gold. Honestly though, I really like the gold and it makes my wagon look more sporty. Now I just need my 2.5rs bumper to get here.

Medium to dark greens always look good with gold, I think it looks great together.

Going to look into making a new shift boot, the original boot is made out of a thick vinyl that's stiff and now with the short stick it likes to bunch up at times randomly. Have some sheepskin leather that should work nicely as it's thin and supple, hardest part will be figuring out how to make tabs or some other way of attaching it to the console. Apparently the plastic tabs are notorious for breaking over time and one on my boot is already missing so trying to transfer them would be disastrous.

Yep the only bad thing now is I just want to throw money st it to build it more but it'll have to wait.

As for new boots go, go with some velour or alcantara

I thought about some microsuede or alcantara since it'd be really pliable and look nice, will have to look and see what's available.

Well the way my boot is shaped one would have to hang lower than the other. laugh.gif Which that should prove interesting to recreate, that and there's an aftermarket boot retainer that looks suspiciously like a metal coat hanger bent into a rectangle and some tabs bent into it. So I guess will try making one from a brass coat hanger versus the $30-40 for the premade one.

Wooooo bumper! Will really freshen up the Subaru once it's repainted and on.

Got the high beam harness in last night well enough to see if I can notice any difference, I'm going to go back and replace the relays with better ones and mount it all more securely with the fuse and wiring routed so they're easily accessible. I think I might ditch the low beam harness altogether as it's not needed for the HID ballasts, but I'll do a test beforehand to see if the warmup time and hot restrike is affected by that at all first. That would remove a bunch of wiring clutter from the engine bay!

My fuses are right next to the positive terminal junction they're connected to for easy access, everyone will think I have some kind of killer sound system though but nope it's for the headlights. laugh.gif All the wiring is mostly hidden next to the core support, the only parts really visible are the power feeds and then the grounding wire.

Being 35W so long as the factory wiring isn't stupid thin it should be ok one would think. Also I just don't even know with the shift boot, the leather I have is black and nothing else in the interior is so it'd just stick out like a sore thumb. I thought about trimming the factory boot to take out some excess material, but the way it's done I won't be able to take out anywhere near enough. Guess will look for some dark grey microsuede I like off eBay or Amazon, and hopefully it matches well enough in person.

Meh on a positive note was able to adhere the shift boot retainer back together, all the glue holding the vinyl on had gotten weak enough due to age it peeled right off so can use that for the new boot and not have to attempt making a retainer from a coat hanger. Woo...

Beams are brighter but it's not as dramatic as I thought it would be, I think it's partly the design of the light and partly that the low beams are so much brighter now the high beams don't feel as bright. With halogen the low beam was about on par with the high beam, now with HID the low beam is about 1/3 brighter than the high beam.

I high beamed a motorcycle that had horrible LED headlights. I don't think he was happy with me but holy hell I couldn't see ANYTHING but high lights and I don't think those were even high beams and god damn they were blue.

That's how it was with my brother's Genesis, the HID low beam washed out the halogen high beam.

I hate inconsiderate people, trucks with HIDs in their reflector housings are terrible and so far the worst I've come across as far as being blinded. Which speaking of that, I noticed the other night that my headlights don't get washed out really anymore and that was driving towards a car with what appeared to be factory HIDs.

Oh yeah, I meant to ask before but what gauge is the high beam harness wiring? A pair of 9011 would be roughly 10A, and according to the chart I found courtesy of the U.S. Coast Guard a 10A load with 0-6 feet long wire and no more than a 3% voltage drop would need 16 AWG, 7-10 feet would need 14 AWG. Meh scratch it, went back and looked and based on what you posted it was about 4%.

Yet even more editing and adding on since I found some fabric: https://www.amazon.com/Charcoal-Suede-Uphol...+suede+charcoal
