Red is supposed to be gentle on the eyes at night, what color are you going for?

Violet or purple, somewhere in that spectrum.

oye what the hell is wrong with you, those along with blue are some of the hardest colors to focus on (for me and for most). Are you some kind of mutant? laugh.gif

Apparently, my brother's Genesis has blue interior lighting and it never hurts my eyes. The Celica with green never bothered me either really. For whatever reason it's the lower frequency colours yellow, orange, and red that hurt my eyes. Red especially since it doesn't even have to be from a light to hurt, it's why I hate red on cars so much.

I just had a thought earlier, my stereo has custom RGB illumination so I can sit in the car at night and kind of mock out which colour works best for me. Also in the midst of things finally got all my stuff from the post office yesterday, turns out it was a temporary that didn't know the area so I'll let it slide this time. They will get talked to about marking it as delivered though. On that note two of the rigid loop LEDs work fine, one flickers, and the other has a dead row. Have to love cheap generic crap, that aside it's a mild output white with a slight tinge of blue so it's a step in the right direction I guess. Thing is I don't want super bright just bright enough that's also white, I'm taking that 1% demographic of LED sales. The 194 LEDs on the other hand are great, so long as they fit where you need them. They're about 32mm long and a standard 194 is like 20mm? but either way yeah. Works great in the glovebox though, throws light just as well as halogen so that reflective cap thing really works. Bright and white, I guess the cap filters out any blue from the 5730 chips as well. I was going to use it for the tag light, but too long to twist into place. I will put one into the center console once I figure out how to get to it without breaking stuff.

Apparently the center console is made of two pieces, wasn't that bad to remove and change the bulb. Also one of the LEDs brother was using as a tag light melted and fell apart, was Yorkim brand off Amazon. Put in one of those LEDs I bought and apparently they do a have a twinge of blue, didn't notice until was side by side with the other. The Yorkim ones are 6 5730 chips, and the one that wasn't melted apart didn't feel hot so who knows. Went and checked on Amazon and within the last few days a couple others had left reviews where they had some melt and fall apart. Oh and in good news two more of the rigid loop LEDs are being shipped out.

The Canbus ones have a resistor in/on them that can get shockingly hot because it's a tiny SMD part that's soaking up 5W of heat to put out a warning message about bulb out, well a tiny thing the size of the head of a pin trying to crap out 5W of heat to stagnant air is going to get ****ING HOT and fail quickly of course. If he doesn't need error cancelling LED's then he should avoid them or figure out how to de-solder that resistor from them.

I noticed the melted apart one smelled like a burnt resistor. To make things worse his tag lights are sealed and the socket has a rubber o-ring, I suggested drilling a hole in the top to act as a heat vent or letting the bulbs sit in the housings not twisted into place first to see if somewhere for heat to escape even solved the problem which is what he did. I will check them out though for a resistor, his car despite being a 2012 doesn't have a CANbus system.

At least it's not a brick wall.

Also that moment you remember the FB RX-7 and the AE86 Corolla also have a live axle.

Transverse leaf springs made of composite, super high tech stuff. tongue.gif

I don't know why it didn't occur to me sooner, probably the headache for over a week straight, but the needles and some of the text on the gauge cluster are orange themselves regardless of backlighting. Kind of rules out a lot of backlight colours, photoshopping will be required.

Yeah violet/purple looks ok, but it looks kinda Halloween gimmicky with the orange and purple on a black background. Blue is definitely out then, orange or yellow would match but then meh not really any better than red. Guess will try and see how green looks.

You could totally change the needle color, probably just orange varnish on the needle.

Hmm, would have to look around and see. My luck would tear into it and it's transparent orange plastic. Still leaves the km/h in orange though. Anyhow will see how green works out now. This is why I love photoshop, gives an idea before spending the money and going through the trouble.

No reverse glow. laugh.gif

Those look pretty cool, I like the phoenix over in the speedometer. Tried orange and it was ok but not really a noticeable difference from the red, yellow was meh. Green seems ok, though I'm just ok with green. Will try blue since might as well, though it and orange I dunno.
