Not bad, thought that was snow until I realized it's gravel. Duh. I got some shots of the lights against a building from about 30-40 feet away, when I get off my lazy ass and grab the camera I'll post them. High beam is epic, prepare your anus. I highbeamed someone to move over tonight, I saw that poor bastard lit up like daytime in his car and then he looked up right into the mirror. I almost felt bad, almost.

I like it box! Looks really good! What's next for you?
I'm strongly considering selling the 914 and buying a Miata. -------------------- |

I think I like it more now, at least now it goes all the way across and hides some of the warpage of the passenger side. Didn't really realize how bad it was warped until I was degreasing it and laying the vinyl down. If anyone asks it wasn't to hide cracks but to remove windshield glare, that's partially true.
![]() Thanks 1994. Eh, not entirely sure. I really need to get an amp to power the Bazooka subs in the quarter panels as they're woefully underpowered by the factory amp. I have been trying to score a deal off eBay on an used Rockford PBR300X2 but they sell for not much less than new, so about to the point of saying fk it and buy new so I know it's good and will have a warranty. Just bites paying $160 for 150Wx2, price to pay for being able to hide the amp I suppose. I really want to do C5 brakes for the front, but that's shy of $500 to do and I want to wait until after I move since I'll have a garage to do it in. The Miata is a fun car so long as you don't try to make it something it isn't, but that's really true about any car. I still want another one someday to go along with the Firebird, kind of cover both ends of the RWD performance car spectrum. Of course I'd still want to permanently affix a hardtop to it but that's just me. Choosing between the 914 against the Miata I'd say Miata hands down, but I put high priority on things like fuel injection and A/C on top of not having old car bull**** to deal with. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

They are at 45W, they're 5000K Yeaky I think. I've been running them for a while now, they're holding up pretty good. I've got to fix the driver side rotation, I'll mess with that this weekend and I might swap in some Philips or other 4500K bulbs just for the heck of it to see how I like the nearly halogen color or I'll swap in the 6000 or 6500K bulbs and see how I feel about colder whiter light. I keep forgetting what bulbs I have laying around. I've got some "55W" HID bulbs but the 45W F5 has a hard time running them, they need a TRUE 55W ballast.
I think I might have almost as much high beam as you do! This post has been edited by Bitter: Feb 13, 2017 - 9:31 PM -------------------- |

A good radio is nice and sound system is nice. It'll make driving around more enjoyable. And bitter that looks pretty nice!
I'm really considering the Miata as it'll be cheaper, easier to work on and there's an endless aftermarket for them. If I had one I would just put a small turbo on it and do a decent suspension build and call it good. And yes box a hardtop would be mandatory for me. -------------------- |

I think I might have almost as much high beam as you do! Hmm, I'll have to try and find a taller building I can get 30-40 feet from and try to get a comparison photo. I can always throw in 130/100W bulbs. ![]() -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Really the amp for the subs is the last piece to finish it off, I think I might give it one more week to score an used one but after that will just bite the bullet I suppose since I've waited a little over a month now. They're good cars, reliable, inexpensive parts, and an aftermarket that probably falls only short to Mustangs and Civics. Suspension is a must, at least the NA6 wasn't very good as it was very jarring and rolly. Good springs/shocks or coil-overs along with swaybars and good tires would've gone a long way in helping. The biggest complaint I had were the seats, they suck horrendously. I'm not sure what has worse seats, the NA Miata or SN95 Mustang, absolutely no support whatsoever. The NB2 seats are a direct bolt-in though if I recall correctly, but they bring decent money unless you get them out of a junkyard or maybe a CL partout. A turbo or supercharger would make a huge improvement. If it wasn't for the fact my shoulder stayed buried into the door panel because of how broad I am and finding the Firebird I was heavily considering finding a NB M-Edition or 10th Anniversary and then adding a turbo or supercharger to it, 200 or so hp goes a long way in a 2,300 pound car. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

God damnit I'm lusting hard over Z32's all of a sudden for some reason. This just goes to show it doesn't matter what I own I'll never be entirely happy. I almost made it a year this time.

Not that I ever thought of selling it, just can't help but think about other cars you know. I need help.
![]() So earlier today the sun was stupid bright, before I'd have been blinded with glare but now I only had the sun itself to contend with. Was nice, matte black dashboards are the best thing ever. So I'm thinking about an exhaust tip, normally wouldn't bother or care but Dynomax in their infinite wisdom galvanized the steel and then welded and cut it so the weld seam and the end where it was cut is surface rusting. Not even sure on what kind of tip I'd want, I do know chrome is out as I hate chrome. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Actually I've thought about holding off suspension and brakes to get a second car, a Miata or RX-7 would probably be more diverse than a 300ZX so would probably lean more towards them. That or a MR2 would be nice as well.
Brushed stainless would be nice or a plain stainless that's not been heavily polished. Black just looks weird though better than chrome, but still out. No bosozoku, actually at the moment it's a downturn so that'd be the opposite I guess. I remembered I have a picture: ![]() Thinking maybe an oval or dual tip perhaps, I don't think round would look that good. Though the way the bumper is contoured a slight upturn could work as well I suppose. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

dual tips look good.
yeah googled some pics of round tips on them and it just looks out of place. -------------------- ![]() *1997 Celica ST - 3SGE Greytop BEAMS *1977 Celica RA29 - Classic Cruiser *2005 Matrix AWD - dedded but still hanging around like a ghost 2019 Rav4 XLE Premium - Sports mode is fun. |

The factory muffler had the quasi-dual outlet with dual tips on the ends. I took the tips off before scrapping the muffler since they were stainless steel, but they're too small to even fit and they looked too small with two of them much less one by itself anyway. Thinking perhaps a 2.5" to dual 3" would look about right. Guess shall peruse eBay and Amazon later to try and find something I like.

Found this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/PREMIUM-Dual-Corve...mMx&vxp=mtr
Thinking would do it with the longer tip on the inside and the shorter on the outside, follow the bumper contour somewhat. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Would that fit? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-3-75-Out...SAQ&vxp=mtr hey that looks nice too. I swapped my Yeaky 5000K for some 2014 vintage 4500K XB35 D2S bulbs, can't really judge as I'm only a few feet from the wall of the garage but the focus seems different, the Morimoto branded bulbs (CNLight I think) may have better alignment than the Yeaky, I'll be around 4000K color temp, almost halogen, I want to try that out for a few weeks to see how I like it, bonus if the capsule alignment is better too. Just not sure about a round tip though. There's one year there was a single out round tip, the '98 WS6:
