bout time you updated!! i will join everyone else in saying, coilovers! yay!! btw, where did u end up going for motor mounts? The front/rear transmission mounts and the passenger side mount can all be bought on partznet. They were the ones to inform me the driver side mount is discontinued and refunded that purchase. So I found/bought it on eBay and of course, a rare and discontinued part gets stolen from my doorstep. I got a refund, but I would've much rather had the part! Took a week and a half for another to pop up on eBay. So eBay is your best bet, I'd say. People are always finding old stuff in their garages. hahah. thats my kind of thinking.
but I'm just saying, I have a 7a auto... that is not god's plan for me or my car. eventually I want to either do a manual swap or while I'm at it, put in a 3s. so do i even bother with engine mounts for my auto 7a? -------------------- ![]() *1997 Celica ST - 3SGE Greytop BEAMS *1977 Celica RA29 - Classic Cruiser *2005 Matrix AWD - dedded but still hanging around like a ghost 2019 Rav4 XLE Premium - Sports mode is fun. |

Fair enough, I hate automatics behind something powerful much less something well not powerful. In retrospect the 7A wasn't too terrible with the 5-speed. If you think doing a 3S swap is still far down the road I'd definitely look into doing a manual conversion for the 7A.

I'm fully aware how slow my car is, but the fact that it's manual makes it much better.
Especially when you've got the brass shift arm bushings, aluminum shifter assy bushings and 7gc short shifter. Honestly makes me feel like I'm driving something faster on my work commute lol -------------------- taking too long to mod since '09

I have heard the MR2 guys have issues with solid bushings as well. If I recall correctly, it has something to do with the bushings are too stiff and it replicates leaving your hand on the shifter, which puts stress on the syncros or something like that. It's been a while since I've read that.

It's been a while since I've read that. I can see that being a cause. If that's the case, I wonder if the MR2 solid spherical bushings can negate that, since they can allow the shift cable link points to pivot a bit more naturally. -------------------- taking too long to mod since '09

I drove to Vegas from Albuquerque and back over the weekend and I forgot how much I love the Celica as a solo road trip car. Probably has everything to do with my tires and replacing almost every suspension component and bushing recently, but the ride was butter smooth.
My only compliant is cabin noise. I remember seeing someone on here talking about some FrostKing insulation they cut up for the door panels and under the carpet. I may look into that. Driving 75-80mph at 3300-3600 RPM does not make for much quiet. -------------------- taking too long to mod since '09

Some sound dampener like the above will do wonders, used it through my brother's Genesis and the difference going down the road and especially at 70+ mph is night and day. Use it throughout the car to reduce resonance, then if you want it even quieter you can do a closed cell foam deadener over the dampener. Most of the noise is from the doors, cargo area, and quarters, but doing the floor pans and roof would also help. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed
