I've seen some nice Audi TT's for <$5000. Already AWD and turbo, or v6 no swappin needed.

but Audi TT...ever tried to work on one? Neither have I, but from what I've seen/read it's not very fun. Also they're a little gay looking. My aunt had one, it stayed at the dealer more than their garage, they got rid of it when warranty was out. Lots of problems with the trans/awd system and the hard top not to mention the ubiquitous Audi/VW ignition coil failures of that time period.

From what my brother tells me stay away from every VW/Audi except for a few of the turbo diesel models, and even then they're still quirky. I thought about getting a TT given what you get for the money, but too many horror stories. As much as I hate to say it I'd be more inclined to trust an Eclipse GSX or 3000GT VR4 over it. Of course a ST165 or ST185 would be ideal, but they're nowhere to be found.

I for one, can not wait for the RS to get here, and once the lease is up on the Lexus, I will own a blue one for my daily.

I know, Damnit. Everything else I look at it always comes back to reliability. Just get another 90's Toyota!
It's just that I hate that little asshole who went to work for Ford so bad that I'll never buy a Ford because of it.

That video made me laugh pretty good too!

Guess it really depends, around here cars like the Celica and MR2 when they do eventually pop up are in pretty good shape. Stuff like the Camry or Corolla etc... varies.

I'd like to update my opinion on this topic.
From what I've seen of the new one the Focus RS is the European rally car that we have never been allowed to have. And they say it was designed by the people who race Ford in Europe.
2.3 liter turbo that makes 350 hp and 350 ftlbs of torque. Thrust vectored AWD. The say you can flip the switch to drift mode and it will let the back end slide, and then sit and cut donuts in a radius no bigger than the car. And you can keep it up until it burns a hole in the tire.

After you equip it the way I want it would be $45k, about $750 a month. And sadly I could walk in there and they'd approve me to buy one.
I just had to walk away. I want to keep my race car habit at 20 year old Toyota's for now.

If they're anything like the ST then they're full of cheap interior and disappointments....

For what the Focus RS costs I much rather have a 1SS Camaro with the 1LE package, but maybe that's just me.

That blue color is like a $500 option, screw that. I'd take the free paint  It's an interesting car I just don't know if I trust Ford build quality and long term reliability on them yet. Also, kinda spensive still. Maybe a gently used one someday tho.
