In my last post I showed how to modify rear TRD spats to fit the convertible, in this post I am going to work on my spoiler. The spoiler that came on my wrecking yard trunk lid is lame to say the least. Here is a picture of the factory spoiler:
My Celica is a 95 which did not have a factory spoiler. My trunk lid had a fairly expensive dent so I picked one up for a 96, saw it had a spoiler and started looking for other options and once again realized that there are very few options for the verts in comparison to other models. I found a cool posibility online, bought it and realized it would need a little work in order to fit. It was a little narrow and after setting it on my lid I could see a massive gap under the feet. Clearly, I am going to have to cut it in half. There is a bit more of a slant at the edges of the trunk, by sliding the 2 halves over I could eliminate a lot of the gap and save some modification time. The clay is a perfect tool when lining up the halves, a slight aqueeze will raise the part, a twist will move it back or forward and it holds in perfectly. Thats it for now, falling a sleep. More to come soon. |
