Sedans really don't open up many options anyway since not many are RWD or AWD, and even fewer with a manual in those layouts. Pretty much the Impreza, Legacy, Lancer EVO, and IS300 are it. I just don't like how sedans look though, I blame the B-pillar and extra doors.

7G GTS with a bunch of hard suspension and bracing bars, you'll love how it feels and your chiropractor will love what it does to your spine.

Which is why I'm looking at getting a Miata. Today was a prime example of what I've been talking about. Was driving through town earlier and every time I went to even remotely use the Firebird's power, there was a damn officer right there. Not once, not twice, but three times. After the third time I just gave up and went back to driving like an old lady. Can't even get on it remotely hard without drawing attention. It's not even that loud, just has the straight through in place of the factory muffler. Doesn't matter, the way people turn and look I might as well be doing a rolling burnout by them. I'm just never going to be able to enjoy the car for its intended purposes, so I rather have something I can enjoy. Honestly I want to know what's the deal with the people that buy a car with 450+ hp and then that's not enough power, seriously you can't even use 300 hp. Not unless you don't care about getting tickets anyway.

You don't use that kind of power in town dip****. You use that out on country lanes and highway on ramps.

Well considering all my driving is around town, highways(ones with 45-55 mph limits), county roads, and back roads I have to some times unless I want to carbon up the engine. Which I use Shell 93 so it shouldn't really carbon up too bad driving like an old lady, but there are times I can feel the plugs getting fouled since romping it a few times clears it right up. That's what I was trying to do, just rev it out to blow it out, but that's hard to do when the speed limit is 30 mph and first gear tops at 49 mph.

That's ok I've been giving some thought to what 1994Celica said, and after watching more WRX reviews than I have fingers I'm intrigued. I think if any vehicle were to compensate for not being a coupe it'd be it, as it is AWD and turbocharged with a manual(that's apparently made of glass according to everyone) and outside of Audi or Mitsubishi(both I trust a Hell lot less than Subaru) no one else really offers that. Plus it should be great for all these crap roads around here, I notice the Audi of my brother's does really well and nothing seems to ever upset it even on worn stock suspension so I imagine a WRX would be along the same lines. The WRX should be just about as quick as the Firebird, if not faster with some mild bolt-ons and a tune, and handle a lot better. I think I like the wagon more than the sedan:

So much room for taking naps.

Brother says to get a WRX and deal with the extra doors, or get a Miata and let him borrow it. Hmm... I don't think at any point he's said keep the Firebird.

Experimented earlier between the Firebird and the Audi on the same stretch of road, one of our lovely lunar surface replicas, and the Audi demolished the Firebird. That's sad because stock for stock the Firebird does about 5.5 seconds to 60 with a 14.2 second 1/4 mile while the Audi is only 7.2 seconds to 60 with a 15.5 second 1/4 mile, but the Firebird just wanted to wheel hop the entire time whereas the Audi just grabbed the road and went. So something like a WRX that does 5.8 seconds to 60 and a 14.4 second 1/4 mile stock would absolutely thrash it.

Just realize that you would have to buy a hardtop to get back in the Miata game, I don't even like driving them top up.

We all just need to realize that Box won't be happy with whatever he buys.

Anyway who any other topics of discussion? I'm trying to dive back into my 914 as of now and get it back on the road after it sitting for a year.

I was planning on permanently affixing a hardtop and removing the soft top, provided keeping a pack of ponytail holders on the rearview mirror doesn't make top down driving more feasible. Though that was another reason for wanting the NB2 as it had the factory wind blocker, so maybe windows up and wind blocker but top down would be ok.

Hey now, we don't know that for certain.

Did you ever finish up the rust repair on the 914?

You know the most popular car at the autocross is a Miata. It's small, light, and RWD. It still tickles your accelerometer.
Now I live in Oklahoma, and we get away with all kinds of **** here smile.gif

Yeah, I really want to give the Miata another go. I was considering another Miata before I got the Firebird, but I had wanted a Firebird and something different. Which everything happens for a reason I guess, had I not I'd still be obsessed with wanting power. So in a way it took owning a car with power to better appreciate those that don't. The Firebird definitely taught throttle control and managing oversteer, as well as driving dynamics with a LSD that's eager to lock up. I also learned I hate solid axles, that power isn't everything, and handling is what's most important to me. So it was a learning experience.

Okay so I bought a battery tie down on ebay and it was indicated as delivered today but I don't have it. Pulled the tracking and it shipped from South Carolina and is now in El Paso which makes no sense to me since as I'm in between El Paso and SC.........

Yeah shipping logistics doesn't have much logic. All the time I have stuff sent to Montgomery which is about 100 miles south only to come back up to Birmingham and then to my local delivery office.
