QUOTE (BonzaiCelica) Beams axles(wasn't able to install the passenger side because threads were slightly smashed and no shop had a big enough tool for it, ill put it on later. The section between the axle bracket on passenger side and where it plugs into transmission is 5mm thicker vs McPherson axle. And of course they have more bearings according to Mr 2grfe dead pic links! Yes all SS-II & SS-III use the 6 bearing set up so not just superstrut. Couple of questions, are you using the correct brakelines for the front, as it looked like in old pics you were using factory McPherson ones? Second (hard to tell in pics) did you get new superstrut top hats ![]() ![]() Looking forward to more progress.. -------------------- |

my other friend who's building his SS-II into a track monster has somewhat salvaged the axle with the busted end. we might do a hybrid ordeal on it.
well it wont be the same shade of red thats for sure. he likes your red color as well. as far as brake line. yes its stock mcpherson lines. i replaced all 4 corners with some wholesale aftermarket lines that went for cheap. the only way i'll convert to proper superstrut lines is when i buy those braided lines that you see on ebay that sell for $200 plus shipping. forget the brand name. secondly, yes i got new top mounts from the st185 chassis if i remember correctly. i was trying to justifiy buying oem lines but the price was around $120 for the fronts alone... or something to that manner Thanks to smaay for his how too guide for pulling engine This post has been edited by BonzaiCelica: Feb 18, 2017 - 2:56 PM -------------------- Group buy to replicate Narrow E series transaxle parts

Almost 4 and a half months later...
Car is still at body shop. All they did was primer body except front bumper and weld in piece so i can mount interior dome light. They also removed inner part on roof where the sunroof would sit n made it flush so i can mount hardtop headliner. They promised me 3 separate times they would finish it. Straight lies. They can't finish it and dont ŵant to admit it. Im taking car to another shop. ![]() well its been just over 7 months now and still waiting. they removed all the windows without breaking the quarter windows or the rear. the front has to be replaced. he recommended i replace both quarter windows because the outer plastic trim might begin to crack over the summer. what are ya'll thoughts..... on a positive notes, the tires have remained inflated and not gone flat since its been sitting. Your patience is admirable thanks. they were a little frustrated that i called the state on them to hurry up the process. for your reference this paint job cost $4800 and will be another $460 to install windows including a new front windshield, they redid the plugged up sunroof, (which they had to redo 6 times because of so much rust and so much bondo from previous shop it kept cracking), they resprayed all door jams and the whole rear end section from the top of rear crash bar and up to the part where you bolt up taillights, and cut jdm sidemarker location along with lip, rear spats and sideskirts. they removed everything from the car to spray it. no over spray anywhere Some places even quoted me $6k without me even mentioning the engine bay. Paint is expensive, and you never get your money back. As long as you are happy I was quoted by a shop close to me about 3K to do the body work, rust repair and respray of the slate blue gray on the car. But this is ohio, not California so I guess theres that. -------------------- ![]() |
