Eh **** it, if you want to be THAT ASSHOLE blinding everyone else on the road fooling themselves into thinking they can see better and just not giving a flying **** that no one else can see because of it, go ahead. I hope you **** a rusty nail sideways though.

Thank you. It been proven multiple times, especially w/ the new LED headlights (more so the plug & play), that they don't project the light far like regular light does.

LED’s in the 5th gen 4Runner projectors are a downgrade in lighting, and the lighting is already unusable at night. It’s oathetic when you’re a alone on a dark stretch of road and you have to question whether your headlights are even turned on. That being said, the projectors in this are surprisingly well set up for HID’s. The cutoff stays decently sharp and there’s less glare than other aftermarket HID setups I’ve seen. Is there still glare? Of course. LED’s aren’t an option and brighter halogens weren’t an option, and frankly nobody in Colorado had a clue how to drive so I’d prefer to be a pain in their ass when they go 40 in a 75. tongue.gif

Didn't know the 4Runners had projectors. That's good though, most retards do that crap in lights that are not designed for it and that's the part that's not cool.

Yeah, the 2014+ 4Runners have projectors. Still not great with HID’s but they at least cooperate with them better than average projectors. I just don’t understand where Toyota went wrong with the lighting. I don’t understand why the bulb goes in the light sideways, I don’t understand why the lighting is as bad as 80’s cars, and the fog lights are the best part. They’re literally just a chrome dish with a 19 watt bulb in them. Barely anything for a cutoff, dismal light output, and my favorite part- even a lot of LED upgrades will melt the housing. Almost any upgrade in any way will melt the housings. kindasad.gif

Ok while we are on the topic of 4Runners... sister has a '15 or '16 & wants a remote start. What brand would you all recommend? I heard the factory one kinda sucks dick (but I like the idea of not f***ing w/ factory wiring). Also maybe something that you don't need an extra remote & can use the keyfob.

The factory one totally sucks. It has super short range, something like 60 feet. And anything you do after it’s started results in it shutting off. It works but there’s better options for sure. I don’t have much input due to lack of experience but the Viper remote start in our Celica still works great, if that’s any help.

I have an easier and cheaper solution, she just needs to find a boy to be her lackey and go start it for her.

I have a hatred for remote starts after the remote start on my Subaru sent it into the tree in my neighbors yard. That was an interesting thing to wake up to and dealing with the police. I'll start my car manually like god intended thank you....

That's why they don't put remote start on manual equipped cars, it's a great way to commit suicide and your family still collect the life insurance money though since it'll look like an accident.

So brother ordered a component speaker set for the Miata that should get here Monday, since EVERY CAR must have a sound system in it... Which at least I was able to talk him into using the Sony single DIN he had laying around collecting dust instead of buying a double DIN touch screen. >.>

Moved the Celica up and over for the winter season so I can put the snow thrower behind it, fired up the snow thrower as well so I know it runs. I NEED to replace the plastic gear on the electric start for it since that's WAY nicer than pull start, even if I have to plug the extension cord into it. 120V starter FTW!

I should probably fill up my gallon can o gas and mix some stabil in it and put in a fresh gallon to the Celica for winter, it's on like 3 bars of gas. Probably. I probably won't bother.

If you're using 93 it'll be fine to sit a few months without anything else.

I know right.
Well she is married & parks in the garage (I think) overnight. Lives out in the country, maybe it's for when she's at work? Brother-in-law had asked me for options/ opinions.

And I've learned w/ my truck ('06 2500 Cummins) it really don't warm up anyway by the time I get to work during winter. So there is no use in a remote start. I do have the block heater on a timer for winter time.

I think it one of those happy wife happy life type of things, LOL.

Tell that to the previous owner..... I now longer use the crappy after markert keyfob provided and now use the stock Subaru one as well as leave my car in 4th when I park instead of reverse.

Really the only I know of would be the Viper stuff like Richee mentioned. If he really wants to impress her then could add some heated seats if it doesn't already have them.

Heated seats > remote start. Remote start is going to just waste SO much gas cause she'll start it like 20 minutes before she leaves and it'll just sit there idling in the ****ing freezing cold chugging along running super rich and fouling the gasoline and sludging up the engine. The best thing on a very cold day is to start it, let it idle for a couple minutes, then either drive it or hold a fast idle over 1000 RPM to warm the engine up quickly and get into closed loop. That's what I do with my Mazda and every other car I've owned and it works great, heard it from Click n Clack the Tappet Brothers years ago and it's legit.
