I'm also glad that we have natural gas (living in town) and not a propane tank. People with LP or propane are f&*d with these sub zero temps. It's like $450 to fill my parents tank. -------------------- 2000 GT-S 6 SPD... SOLD! |

Propane tanks are a ****ing scam, the last place had a tank even though we were still in a populated area within city limits. It was like $300-400 to fill it and it wouldn't last for ****. The current place has natural gas yet is in a more isolated area outside of the city, go figure. Anyhow it's a fraction of the cost for the same duration of time and it runs a hot water heater in addition to the central heat whereas it was only the central heat at the other place, that and the current place is twice as big...

had to switch batteries from my celica to the matrix because it has a better CCA. lol.
and yeah, I'm one of those that live "out there" with a tank. It does suck but it's does suck. LP prices are horrible and i hate heating my huge house. lol but it's nice in the summer. barely use any at all so it almost evens out. -------------------- *1997 Celica ST - 3SGE Greytop BEAMS *1977 Celica RA29 - Classic Cruiser *2005 Matrix AWD - dedded but still hanging around like a ghost 2019 Rav4 XLE Premium - Sports mode is fun. |

Today I purchased a 1992 White Lexus SC300 for $1000 with 160K miles on it and a clean title. The headgasket is blown but the body is in really good shape. This car was a steal and found it when I was part hunting for my Celica in El Paso, TX at the salvage yards. The funny thing is that there was a junkyard near by with a SC300 and SC400 that are the same color. I spent $450 on pulling parts off of them to replace some bent body panels and missing interior pieces.
IMG_5287 IMG_5277 My plan is to store the car for a few months. Then I will get the car repainted and rebuild the motor to stock specs. Once I have the car up and running I will start working on the low hanging fruit for performance such as, brakes, wheels, tires, and aero. The goal will be to do a 2jzgte VVTI or NA-T within the next 2 years. I am up in the air as to if I should do a auto to manual swap because my wife is getting into driving performance cars too but she does not know how to drive stick. This car will look really nice sitting next to my 97 Celica. This post has been edited by HardHead93: Jan 2, 2018 - 5:25 PM |

Also, if you have the means, I would ABSOLUTELY swap in a standard trans. You can teach your wife how to drive it and she'll know how to do something that most people in the United States don't. -------------------- 2000 GT-S 6 SPD... SOLD! |

Nice find man! I have a 93 sc400, I love the 1uz. I also did a black interior swap on it as well. I have some extra tan parts if you need them possibly.

I have been wanting one of these cars for a while. Mainly for the 2jz but I am unwilling to pay the Fast and Furious Supra tax. Since the platform is similar to the Supra, the aftermarket is amazing when compared to my Celica. I heard the SC400s with the V8 are pretty nice too. Thanks for the offer on tan interior parts but the interior on this car is grey. Once I get the body and motor sorted I will look to get the interior reapolstered. That's ok I watched a video on a bug-eye WRX and he mentioned the clutch being stiff(the first someone mentioned it in all the videos I watched), so I was like "You have to be ****ing kidding me right?" So I searched and sure enough, forum posts all across the internet asking why the pedal is so stiff... Apparently Subaru dealers of the time had lots of consumer complaints on it according to one post, so much so they lightened it for the newer generation. Which many said it wasn't that bad, but compared to a Miata or Civic it was definitely heavier. So I guess it's around the Firebird if not possibly worse somehow. Oh well, and after I was really warming up to them too...

You can teach your wife how to drive it and she'll know how to do something that most people in the United States don't. By re-paint, I mean re-paint the stock color or maybe more of a pearl white. I am not changing the color it is just that the paint needs to be freshened up because it is original to the car and it is 25-26 years old. Also, if I do go with a manual transmission swap I plan to go with the Nissan CD009. It is a performance 6 speed transmission from the 350Z and there are some great conversion kits out there. |

I don't like plain gloss white, but LOVE pearl white. If you're getting it repainted definitely spend the little extra to go pearl, will really bring out the classiness of the car.

It's a shame since I really was starting to like the idea of one... That's ok, probably couldn't find one down here anyway. I guess it's back to Miata if I can't sort the clutch of the Firebird or my leg. Ended up getting some stuff called arnica gel the other day, supposed to help with swelling and inflammation so I guess we'll see... -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed
