In happier news my card should be activated and resubmitted payment for the sanding block, so maybe that'll get here Thursday or Friday. Then I can hopefully sling gravel and rubber onto people. laugh.gif

See, that's the real reason in not going back to FWD. You can't sling gravel onto people when they deserve it. laugh.gif

Payment finally went through on the sanding block and should be here Friday, though it's supposed to be back into the 30's after Friday.

That's ok the timing wheel from 5XRacing finally arrived after being on back order forever, so will probably help with the timing job and radiator for the Miata this weekend. Then that leaves the shifter rebuild and changing the trans and diff fluid, then everything will be 100% caught up.

They're probably one in the same. My brother bought PBM coil-overs for the Genesis and they were suspiciously BC Racing looking in construction and quality, that and they were marked made in Taiwan which further adds to that suspicion. He likes them, I don't care for them. They ride rough as **** even after I convinced him to raise it off the ground so it'd stop dragging the exhaust everywhere and rubbing the wheel liners. If it were me I'd spend the little extra and go for Tein or Cusco since they actually fine tune their dampers and springs for each application instead grabbing whatever off the shelf that fits.

Hell the Tein twin-tube is probably less: https://www.amazon.com/Tein-VST60-C1SS3-Coi...0/dp/B00SM9C2N4 http://raceconsultingagency.com/i-2494704....ASABEgL7f_D_BwE
Then if you want a Tein mono-tube: https://www.amazon.com/Tein-VST60-C1SS3-Coi...0/dp/B00SM9C2N4 http://raceconsultingagency.com/i-2121657....AyABEgKVXvD_BwE
Then Cusco: https://www.amazon.com/Cusco-Cusco-Street-C...h/dp/B013DO02XE (Amazon actually had them cheapest in this instance)

I've just never been impressed with the Taiwanese parts bin, they always ride rough and are bouncy. Sure the springs rates will be somewhat guesstimated for each application, but the dampers really are an instance of using what fits. Which of course Tein and Cusco aren't perfect since they're only doing road and circuit testing, but it's still better than taking shots in the dark and putting packaging and cost constraints ahead of everything else. If you want the best then you'll want Öhlins or KW since they also use a shake rig to develop their products, but Öhlins doesn't make anything for the Supra/Soarer and even if they did it'd be ungodly expensive. Which KW isn't too bad, but still more than the others: https://www.amazon.com/KW-35256010-Variant-...r/dp/B0042FBB1Q

So many aftermarket horn options, not even fully covering reputable brands much less the Chinese parts bin:
https://www.amazon.com/HELLA-003399801-Supe...ords=hella+horn
https://www.amazon.com/Hella-922-000-731-Sh...ords=hella+horn
https://www.amazon.com/HELLA-007424801-Twin...ords=hella+horn
https://www.amazon.com/PIAA-85115-Superior-...ords=hella+horn
https://www.amazon.com/85112-115db-500HZ-60...72CXKTMSM7YQEZV
https://www.amazon.com/FIAMM-72112-Freeway-...72CXKTMSM7YQEZV
https://www.amazon.com/FIAMM-72102-Freeway-...72CXKTMSM7YQEZV
https://www.amazon.com/Stebel-11690019-Naut...72CXKTMSM7YQEZV

I think combining a variety of horns could make for nice results, have something in the 300, 400, 500, and 600 hz ranges all together at once. So maybe the two PIAA sets together, I just know the Firebird's is pitiful and the Miata's is even worse. I'd like something in the 100-200 hz range as well but I guess it's not feasible to make in an electric horn or compact air. Then again not like there isn't room in the Firebird's nose cone for something as such:

Now that I got my SC300 home from the dealer I am looking at coilers too. I am up in the air between K-Sport and BC coilovers.

I'll find a link to the horns I have. You'll be happy with them.

I liked how the Nautilus was a "2 in 1" deal, that and what seems like a really low price for something made in Europe. There's also the Marco Hurricane: https://www.amazon.com/MARCO-HURRICANE-COMP...ords=marco+horn Which from the listing is 310 hertz, so it with the Nautilus would probably be pretty cool.

All the little horns are too high pitched for me.

The Hella Supertone are 300 and 500 hertz, the PIAA Superior Bass is 330 and 400 hertz. Which seemed to be the lowest of the electric horns, that Marco Hurricane mini air is 310 hertz. Seems like only way to get 200 hertz and lower are with the larger horns with the mini air compressors, which really don't want to find the room for or spend the money for. That and no opening in the Firebird bumper, from what I can gather the stock horns are mounted down low in the front of the car and point straight at the ground so really need a trumpet style I suppose and bounce it off the ground to get the most sound out. That or make some brackets to point the Hella disc horns down at the ground. Of course the fun part no matter what is chosen is making the relay harness so that they get full power and put out as much sound as possible.

That's what I'm using in both cars as well as a couple of standard electric horns. It's loud, it's deep, it's cool. And it's big. Totally worth the $20.

I saw a few like that on Amazon as well, this one was rated fairly well actually: https://www.amazon.com/Zento-Deals-Superior...ds=air+horn+car

Little bit more, but free two day shipping. Which the other listing said 450 mm long and 100mm at the widest, so in American that's like 17.75" long and just under 4" wide. That's ok, need to see if I'll be able to keep it first anyway before buying anything else for it. Already have brakes and axle stops waiting to go on it and just haven't seen the point in killing myself to do it. Which the sanding block is supposed to be here tomorrow along with the valve cover gasket set for the Miata, but it's back into the 30's and raining by the afternoon according to the forecast.

Looks like the same thing, good find. They're awesome, I can't suggest strongly enough that anyone looking for a better horn that has the room to fit one of those do it.

I should somewhere in that giant nose cone one would think, would just have to do around a 45° angle or so downward so the sound would make it out/bounce off the ground instead of bouncing around the nose cone. Which it's really mostly the Miata in need of improvement, the Firebird is just average car terrible but the Miata is just down right dangerous with how weak and anemic the horn is.

The Nautilus is definitely not low pitched but I wouldn't want that for a Miata. It's like a classic toot informed by some forced air, but it sounds really really good for the application.

I gave my brother a pair of these for Christmas, they are quite louder than mine. http://www.streetbeatcustoms.com/Hot-Rod-D...in-Horn/675205/

I'm leaning toward BC myself. I have k sports on my vr4 and love them. I have d2's on my lift back celica. So I figure I would change it up.

Yeah, really between the Stebel, Hella, or PIAA horns most likely.

Sanding block got here and it's not as long as I wanted, according to the listing it was 7 inches long but it's more like 5.5 inches long. Must be a man's 7 inches and not a woman's... Anyhow...

So there's that gap at the bottom, can't use as much as my foot as I'd have otherwise liked but seems to work ok. Which after testing just sitting in the car my leg is slightly numb, but today is a bad day with the storm front coming in. Might try flipping it over to where the flat side is facing up and the curved side is down to see if that helps more with distributing pressure.

Could at least go with Fortune Auto, they're designed and assembled over here with overseas components. I don't understand why you'd want to spend just as much on BC junk as you could on something that's actually good, and I mean that in the nicest way possible.
