Supposedly it gets easier with certain headers, but what makes the LT-1 the worst are the plug wires off the Opti-Spark.

So upon research over at the Miata circle jerk, I mean Miata forum, going to try SynchroMesh in the transmission. Also because it's the cheapest fluid and my brother has decided he doesn't like it enough to spend $23 a quart for the Motorcraft everyone swears by. Will be interesting to see if it clears up the notchy feeling, that and I'm going to remove the center console and see how much of the shifter rebuild is actually needed to minimize costs there. If all that's really needed is the lower boot and shifter tip bushing that'd be nice.

50/50 blend of LWSP and the suggested Mercon fluid in my aunties FWD Mazda Capri turbo really really improved her shifting experience, as did fixing the shifter rod bushings.

I think he went ahead and ordered the SynchroMesh, since it and the Motorcraft were the two everyone swore by with the occasional vote for Red Line MT-90. SM was by far the cheapest at right under $8 a quart for Valvoline's version that meets the friction modified GM spec. I would've leaned towards the Motorcraft since it could be the original fill or it was replaced at some point but probably with GL-5, and I know it needs at least the lower boot and shifter tip bushing since I can hear a whooshy air sound moving the shifter so the lower boot is torn and the oil is gone and there's a bit of slop indicating the shifter tip bushing is also done for. It's not that notchy, so with doing the shifter rebuild and just changing to Motorcraft could be enough but he didn't want to spend the extra money so I suppose we'll see. Which it'd make sense the thinner fluid has the potential to work the best, the Firebird's T-56 uses that GM "MTF" that is just Dexron with additives for manuals and it feels good cold and even better hot, though the T-56 was also designed for ATF. There were enough people using the SM, and many tried Red Line or Motorcraft prior and were unhappy but loved the SM, that I don't fear it'll cause any problems at least. That and I think a more heavily weighted knob than the aluminum Voodoo of mine could prove beneficial, after doing the fluid and shifter rebuild may test the stainless steel knob off the Genesis as they're the same thread size and pitch.

Also need to measure out how big of a section of pipe is needed to "delete" the factory muffler since stock isn't loud enough and again isn't wanting to spend more money than needed since he's not even sure he wants to keep it, and he definitely doesn't want to keep it without going turbocharged. Though I think I may've talked him into keeping the Genesis and upgrading it since he asked around his group on how much power the first gen engine could make without blowing or would he need a second gen long block and build it, seems his engine is capable of making what he wants with a turbo upgrade and dyno tuning so now he's looking to do that. Which is good, I SERIOUSLY doubt he'd like an '11-14 Mustang GT beyond the engine. The other option was to sell all three and get an Audi S5, which he might still be thinking about but the rarity of a 6-speed model to even test may stop that.

Took the center console of the Miata out to check things out with the shifter and it's all fubared, on the plus side found the spring for the back cup holder lid on the transmission tunnel and put that back on so it's working as it should again. Will try and talk him into getting the 5XRacing race spec shifter kit: http://5xracing.com/i-18896895-5x-racing-s...category:529257

I got a new toy at work
https://www.ingersollrandproducts.com/en-eu...ie-grinder.html
Seems pretty ballsy, it's got twice the harry potters as my old Mac and it's a lot more comfortable to hold, quieter too! I put on a sanding disc and pushed down hard against the anvil of the vice and pulled the trigger. Took right off without a problem and I couldn't stall it using single handed pressure.

Yea! .4HP instead of .2HP.

Fixed my horns on the Mazda tonight. I have a pair of high/low highway blasters on the passenger side and I noticed my horn didn't sound right lately, I just had a single low tone from the air horn. So I pulled the pass side marker and found a wire off one of the horns, reconnected it and wiggled the other wire, now both of those horns work along with the air horn. My symphony of 'GET THE **** OUT OF MY WAY' is once again complete.

Ahhh ok.

So the SynchroMesh arrived, so exciting. Also found some DC skate shoes in my bedroom that I acquired for some reason but never wore, so now I'm one of the cool kids with blue skate shoes even though I can't skateboard to save my life. Actually thinking maybe with the stupid thick rubber sole will help with my leg and knee on the clutch, after I finish breaking them in which being canvas shouldn't take too long.

Was looking around and found something interesting from Castrol: https://www.castrol.com/en_us/united-states...-motor-oil.html
25% of the oil is sourced from sugar cane, so that's pretty nifty.

I gotta get a new account to share photos, I was using imgur but was tired of hearing negative comment, and just to prove a point, I posted a picture of a red block, and people had to complain about it.
