Correct. Check craigslist, you can find some there for a good price that are big enough. If you're a single tool user then something in the 40 gallon size would be ample. Just replace the ****ty home gamer air regulator with a higher flow part and you're good to go, most 120V compressors just have ****ty regulators that don't flow enough air for good air tools. Also running V style connectors helps out to negate the air loss from the hose.

Yeah would just be one tool at a time for working or fiddling with cars at home.
Sigh, keep thinking about that Miata locally... It WOULD have to be the exact edition I'd want. It's just so, purpley. The only thing keeping me from not dying for it is it's rough around the edges(clear fade and peel, rough leather) with 150K miles, but at $2,500 it's priced accordingly I suppose. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

So apparently someone contacted brother about trading a 2012 Yamaha FZ1 for the Miata, and they're going to meet up Monday. Oh boy, like he needs an 150 hp bike.

It's not so much him as it is everyone else that's the problem. Though he's only going to use it around town and backroads we have on the weekends, so should be ok. People don't see you in a car, much less on a motorcycle. Hell, there are people that don't see 18 wheelers...

Yea and on a cycle you're exposed and will be thrown off at speed into stationary objects. Motorcycles are way more deadly than cars, no matter the experience level of the rider.

Not telling me anything new, I tried to talk him out of it but he's damned and determined. Though I guess it's just how much of a risk you want to take since convertibles are more dangerous than enclosed cars, but at least with a convertible you have a bubble of metal and plastic around you and you're strapped to it. I said he should turn the Miata into a speedster if he wants more of motorcycle experience, sorta like this concept from Mazda:
Actually a cheap NA6 for $2,000 or less would be perfect for that, now that I think about it. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Yeah I was thinking something like a Caterham, 2-Eleven, Elise, X-Bow, Atom, etc... but those are so expensive. There's that Polaris Slingshot 3 wheeler that uses the engine and trans from a base Solstice/Sky, so swapping to the 2.0 turbo engine would be nothing. 260+ horsepower in that would be a lot of fun, but again even used they're pricey much less swapping it in addition. Which he says it's nothing to do with how fast or slow it is, but the experience of riding and that a convertible isn't close enough. So I guess the highly increased chance of bodily harm or worse must be exciting... Hell, I get it I do but everyone else on the road ruins it. They can ruin driving a car... but at least you'll walk away without a scratch more often than not.

Well now I have one. I already have tripod thread on the front of the Celica in the 'mouth' so it's just a matter of getting a tripod adapter for it.

It'll look better than my dash cam, I just need to figure out a nicer mic than the internal one for it somehow, maybe I can solder one onto the board with an external pigtail. I'll google more about it later on, see if there's any firmware hacks for more features too.

Front passenger caliper seized up in the Vibe and warped the rotor. This will be the second remanufactured caliper I put on it in a year and half. I had the car halfway up, so I just put the rear up and flushed the brake fluid, so that's a good job done. One of the rear drum bleeders was seized and had to hit it with penetrating oil and a torch to get it out without it breaking.

Another helpful trick I’ve learned is to chip all the flux off of a 7018 welding rod then cut it a little longer than the bleeder. Tap it into the bleeder pretty firmly. This goes a long way in keeping the bleeder from twisting or shearing off.

This goes a long way in keeping the bleeder from twisting or shearing off. That sounds helpful... My dad told me (after the fact) that a swift whack of a hammer on the very end of the bleeder usually helps break it loose. Damn these salty roads!! -------------------- 2000 GT-S 6 SPD... SOLD! |
