Built a custom SS header to pass emissions here in AZ. I used a Chinese SS header from eBay ($60 shipped), a SS high flow CAT from eBay ($45 shipped), a 2-1/4" "V" band clamp from eBay ($20 shipped), SS mig welding wire from Amazon ($7 shipped) and a piece of VW Golf SS exhaust tubing I had lying around for a 100 degree bend. Turned out pretty good, I think. I'll see this week if it'll get my 279K mile GT through emissions.

Emissions passed with flying colors, not bad for 278K mile car... HC from 1.42 to .28 / CO from 40.07 to 5.37 / NOX from 3.04 to 1.35

This weekend I built the first of probably 3 custom polyurethane engine mounts to replace the completely broken factory mounts. Great for getting the power to the ground and keeping the engine in it's place, but turns the car into a bit of a paint shaker at idle.

Custom. Did you use the like layers of windowsealer method?
Why not just one of the off the shelf options?

Cost and I like fabricating car parts, something I've been doing for the last 14 years. I use a set of polyurethane bushings I had lying around the shop from an old rally car build for this mount and planned for the rear mount. The side mounts, I'll be using Energy Suspension leaf spring polyurethane bushings that I've used in the past for an Escort GT mount. I use to sell the Ford/Mazda mounts quite a bit back in the day.

Ooooeeffff, the vibration at 2K, certainly loosening screws on the dash type of shaking. I'll see how it goes once I build the driver's side mount on the tranny tail.

Rewired my a/f gauge on my 5sfte. Now to buy new intercooler piping so it is flowing properly. Then worked on the 3rd Gen 3sgte as well, fresh oil change then a brake line blew in the driveway.

Did you just replace the 3 that mount the transmission, or did you replace the oil damper/right-front (front of motor) mount too?

So far, just the two torque mounts, front and rear of the bellhousing. I'll try to knock out the one under the airbox this coming weekend, then see how the vibrations go. If it's still moving around too much, I'll figure out something for the end of the engine.

Today I found a BEAMS swapped car in the junkyard. Another member’s hard work and money will be sent to the crusher soon.

..... but not before I go back next weekend and get some more goodies!
