I have a Pokeball one in the Firebird.

#No****sGiven

I like billiard style regardless of the car, as it's most comfortable for me to shift with my palm facing the ground and you don't have to death grip them to have good control.

zero fast, and zero miles.....
I haven't stepped foot in my garage this month. It's been super busy everyday. Waiting for September to get in there and do everything. 7a is ready to yank out at this point so that will happen first.

Hey, there's someone where your engine belongs. Still makes more power than a 7A, so why not.

That’s just the NA 2JZ CheeCheeT-i. The 1JChee-CheeTE still had good internals. Looks like he dropped 2CheeR in the car to me though.

probably makes enough power to blow a couple of trannies.

a few more photos of me pulling the 7A out.

hooked up.

and here we go...

checking for clearance

still had some extra fluids to leak out

slowly but surely coming out.

so it's late in the season and mosquitoes were coming out. I lit some mosquito coils and a citronella lamp to keep them away.
Well, I found out that there is a wasps nest somewhere in the garage because they started getting dizzy and dropping down all around me. This added some real fun to pulling the engine. I was constantly stomping on any that fell to the ground.

something kept snagging. WTFFFF!!! so I fully unbolted the cross member to take a look. It was ONE bolt holding the auto shifter line. lol of course...

and out she comes!

whoo!! empty bay!

The 7A was promptly set down in the corner next to the trash can. a very fitting place for it.

and then I posed for the victory pics posted earlier. lol

Got this last week already but wanted to post up the other pics first.

Shiny goodness! biggrin.gif

flywheel was resurfaced, installed along with clutch.

My tower of ECUs lol

I swapped the brackets over from the 7A to the BEAMS ECU. Although different in size everything lined up for the most part, all except for one side which would cover the plugs so I just bent it all the way down and out of the way.

close up of the part that had to be bent

size comparison

the only difference in the bracket locations

and back in.

GT shift cables installed along with the TRD quick shifter

these are just mid-install pics. the horseshoes clips are now installed. threw the metal ball knob on for kicks until I'm done with the swap. lol

Also at this time, I realized I had some parts I needed in my basement. went to grab them and.... OH ****!!!

Wisconsin has had a crazy amount of rain and high winds lately. I was just down there the night before and everything was fine. Came to find out that our sump got stuck and didn't pump out any of the water. UGH!!! so had to stop what I was doing in the garage and do a massive cleanup. I was PISSSSSEDDD as I thought the basement floor would be a much safer place for all my spare parts then outside in the garage.... WRONGO!!

SAVE THE PARTS FIRST!!!!

all in all, it wasn't as bad as it looked. I pulled the sump pump out and gave it a swift kick and it spurted out water again. LAME!!!
Mai See and I then proceeded to spend the night sweeping, shoveling, brooming water back into the sump pump hole to pump out. Did a Walmart run at night to go buy 3 fans to place everywhere and dry all the floors and crevices. Only lost a few boxes as most other things were in plastic totes. Freelica's carpet was down there and got wet but I just threw it outside to dry. not like it could get any dirtier lol.

now that THAT excitement was over, I could get back to the car stuff.
This week I swapped out the brake pedal for the manual one, also changed out the throttle cable which was a bitch to get back on for some reason. I guess being upside down under a dusty car doesn't help either but finally got it in and drilled the holes needed for the clutch pedal as well. interior is just about done.

Also, the MOST annoying thing that has come up in this swap is these DAMN motor mounts and brackets. Not only are they discontinued and you can't buy them anywhere except used but There are so many little things to consider when changing from A series to S series engines. I had to source almost every bracket except for the driver side one which came with the trans Daniel gave me.
Here are pics to show my frustrations:

Aftermarket mounts are a mess.
This mount had a little extra mounting point that came into contact with the trans so I had to cut it off. you can see the marks where it used to be.

this one was just wrong in general (probably for a different 5s equipped car?) so I got the stock mount from Chris thankfully.

even after getting the stock mount, I found out that THIS F*CKING GUY doesn't match either

FML!! So called out to the midwest crew again to help me source parts. This is getting ridiculous!! mad.gif

#ShouldaGotaGT mad.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

In doing all this I've neglected to do alot of other house work so I spent these past few days cleaning the house, garage, and mowing the lawn. I should have this weekend free to hopefully get further on this swap. It's really slow and probably boring to read but hope you all stick with me. biggrin.gif
