Need some tips/help in trouble shooting this thing
And
Finally managed to jump the system to bring the code into the dash
The check engine light comes and goes
So found the perfect time to do it.

But now what ? What is code 12 and what should I do ?
Thanks for anyone that answers

Not to be rude, but this is easily found with googling "Toyota OBD1 Codes". That said I'm nice and will tell you that code 12 is for missing engine speed signal, so something is wonky with your distributor. If you take your distributor cap off it'll probably look like copper spaghetti inside, that or your ignition coil is cracked. That's provided your wires, rotor & cap, and plugs aren't needing replaced anyway. If it's not having any other issues aside from flashing the code it's probably one of the more simple ones.

If oil is getting into the cap that'd do it, though that's usually only if the shaft o-ring seal tears. Though the way the distributor is mounted on these, if I recall correctly, perhaps via that gasket as well. I'd definitely go in and clean everything up and put in a gasket.

The aftermarket distributors are plagued with problems when they're hot, most fail in some way or another. https://www.toyotanation.com/forum/130-coro...ult-issues.html

Box is right the problem could be with distributor housing assembly here is what you could do to check if it the distributor

This is in the distributor
Good luck
