when idiots do it and they arent even really street racing.
hot rodding (speeding down a highway trying to pass a car thats been passing you weaving in and out) is retarded, so is street racing of course but the civilian casualties and stuff are usually from things like that , not 2 cars running in a straight line for 1/4 mile |

Street racing hmmm a sensitive topic, no matter what kind of import sport car you drive everyone is going to suspect you of doing it, its only natural and its because of those gay movies F&F and 2F2F. I street race, not often but I do, and I dont do it in the day time (i've learned my lesson on that) and I dont do it in a populated area thats just stupid. We treat it like an actuall drag race, which I do at Bristol with my muscle cars (but thats not important). Street racing is fine in my book as long as you do it safely and if you take the conciquences(sp) like a man, namely getting caught and getting fined and such. Just my opinion dont hang me for it. -Brandon Wins: Turbo Jetta Del Sol Civic Loses: TT RX-7 -------------------- |

Thanks for the backup Boosted.
Do people actually street race for the thrill of being chased? I mean, if so then they're not really "racers" they're people who want to get on jackass. And the more badass ones would drive crappier cars so there'd be even more thrill. If you're going to race at least do it because you love your car, love your tuning, and love to drive... -------------------- |

you know what...i do race occasionly....i got busted for it last summer and did my time and blamed it on no one but myself. the judge went easy on me becaue it was 3:30 in the morning and there where no other cars out and you know what there is not thill greater then blowing through those gears chriping tires and the look on the kids face your blowing by. Why else would you do it but for the rush you get. Make fun of me all you want, whatever. its all opinion. Just be safe, smart, and have fun.

I only have one comment for you people that say that racing in the highway or elsewhere after midnight is safe.
YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. There could always be some kind of danger for you and others. Some sleepy/drunk drivers, small night animals or whatever. Just a few weeks ago there was a hit and run near my house. An old guy could not sleep and went to cross the road at 4 am to get cigarettes from a 24hr market. some kids that were racing because they thought it was safe killed that guy and destroyed their future because they thought it was safe. Racing is never safe even in the track. But at least in the track you do not put other people in danger. |

I'm with neoklis. Street racing never really is safe.
And I don't promote street racing anymore. I used to do it sometimes, but never anymore. A while ago my good friend's friend died in a street racing wreck. She was the passenger in one car, and one car lost control, hit the other car, and the car wrapped around a telephone poll. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

something can and usually does happen no matter where and what you race. the difference is when its sanctionized, they are set for the worse, you have to have medical people on site, and they have enough people arround to help you out if something drastic happened. where as on the street, if your car flips or you are in trouble, theres nothing stopping the other guy from taking off and you are SOL.

well the DIFFERENCE IS when you hit the wall, you have a medical team at your car before it stops. it happens on the street you are F0CK3D and SOL for a ride home if you are still conscious enough to even think about that.

Not only that, but you don't really have to worry about animals running across the road, unsafe conditions on the road such as gravel on the roadway, etc. -------------------- New Toyota project coming soon...

I would never tell anyone to street race. But I've done it a few times...and there are times on I94, where I just am joyriding around midnight nad people will try to mess with me. Most time I have the willpower to just wave and keep going...but there have been times when I've done some really stupid sh!t.
Take for example this story, it may at least convince some of you that say racing on the street is ok...to not be ok with it... Just about 3 weeks ago (the last time I've ever raced on the street) I was taking my Celi out for a little ride since it hadn't been driven in about 2 or 3 weeks. It was about 1. Very light traffic on interstate 35 around minneapolis area. I was going about 95 in a 65...just kinda crusing along...until a brand new Grand Am comes along and just about sideswipes me...he wanted to do soemthing. I figured I'd show him what I had, pretty ignorant on my part...we didn't go below 100 for 6 miles...most of the time 115 or above...on curves that were marked 50mph...going in the shoulder to pass people...dangerously weaving...until he misjudged a gap between two cars and tapped the car in front of him...nothing happened to that car cuz he kept going straight...but the guy driving the grand am went into a spin...big time. Went into a concrete girder (see you can hit concrete walls street racing) and really messed up the car. Worst part of it was that it was his girlfriend's birthday present he was bringing home to her...I obviously turned around to help him out but no one would stop...cuz they had all seen us doing the stupid stupid driving. The first thing he says as he limps out of the wreck "You're the best driver I've seen in a long time" and I got so angry cuz all in that instant I see his car basically in a ball of metal and him smiling telling me I'm a good driver. Needless to say, I helped him out by letting him use my cell...then I left so I wouldn't get in trouble. You can all yell at me...but it wouldn't make me as mad as I was and am at myself still. You know how many close accidents I was in and could've killed someone else or myself...and then the nerve of that guy to tell me I was a good driver...one of the best he's seen...ugh...I'm seriously disgusted with myself...and I just wanted to share my story with you all...please keep it at the track... I have an idea as to where you are talking about on 35... damn that takes some serious balls...but yes i agree street racing is not a safe thing to do. I admit ive done it myyself a few times when i was younger, but now its like "ok people... time for me to grow up"... yeah its thrilling to see that moment of overtaking, and stuff like that, but is it worth it when say you race someone with no skills, like in snadmans case where THEY mess up and end up putting you in a risky situation or endangering your life? So you think you can handle it and you wont do anything stupid, fine. Whos to say who you are racing someone who has the skills to stay safe as well? -------------------- Car #3: 98 Accord LX- purchased 5/06, totaled 8/06

Well i mess with people on the road sometimes. (not mess like antagonize, but someone revs at me i rev back) Im not an active street racer. But i enjoy the run every once and awhile. And yeah you can die doing it but you can die taking a shower. And the thrill is from knowing you could get ****ed in the end. Not something i want or do but thats what it is. This crap about taking down the guy next to you. You can do that at a track no difference. But the thrill your getting is your body tensing up for impact or whatever it is that comes your way. Now i wont pull this holier then now bull**** but street racing isnt safe but neither is walking down the street. People do it because they need a replacement or jolt to say they are alive. Im not saying its a good idea but thats why. Kinda like skydiving you have 2 cords one is for when the first doesnt work. After that your dead. But why do people jump, because they know that it could happen. They feal like they are cheating death. So who am i or anyone else to tell people what is a good or bad thing to do, morales = mind control. Just dont hit my car or you will be buying me acouple new cars to replace it. |

Street racing is cool as long as you're performing an abortion and supporting capital punishment at the same time. But it's totally not cool to be racing, performing and abortion, supporting capital punishment, and supporting the Iraq occupation.
