Went for a nice drive last night, car felt pretty good. Got a rattle from the sunroof toward the back that's been there a long time that I need to fix, a loud clack sound when I smack bumps at just the right speed. Burned through 1/4 tank driving around, from home to a nice walk then down along a river and back home along a non interstate highway. It's all so straight and flat here, I wish there were more winding roads like along the river but even that's not tight enough stuff to be fun. Just cruising along it is relaxing though.

I can't wait for cool Fall days myself, hopefully the DZ102 do ok in cooler weather despite being summer tires.

If my Z2's were acceptable in dry weather down to the low 50's those should be OK as well, they're a step below the Z1 and Z2 so little harder rubber, little less ultimate grip, longer tread life, better handling of standing water though. Once I had driven a mile or 2 the Z2's were fine mostly unless it got wet and 50's then...uh...lots of concern. I mean I guess the only way you'll find out for sure is to gingerly try. Honestly I'd driven my Z2 in way too cold temps and once I was rolling for a little they were OK enough. I took it out in the 30's once or twice because I had to and I could light the tires up from a standing start and spin them hitting lift in 1st gear, was able to do that with the first all seasons I put on it when it was wet out because those tires were utter garbage and a terrible mistake.

I figured it'd be no worse than the Firebird on Sport COMP-2 in similar situations, but yeah I spose we'll see soon enough.

Probably better given the lack of insta-torq.

I used to have 102s on the Celica, fine year round, great tire.

Pretty sure the south east curves are closer than the west ones but even those are a solid 10+ hour drive away, not exactly a day trip. There's about 3 minutes of fun (that's what she said) about 90 min west of me and I can make it a nice drive to get there but it's so short. -------------------- |

I used to have 102s on the Celica, fine year round, great tire. Good to know. Obviously snow or ice is still a no go, but the state shuts down anyway. Eventually I'll get 15x8 or 15x9 for extreme summer tires and relegate the 15x7 Pro Race 1.2 to winter tires. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Get some Z3's, you'll like them. I love the suction cup sounds they make on paint and tar lines and really smooth roads, it's comical. Also yeah they stick hard to the road like racecar tires. On my low power car I have to either be trying to intentionally break traction or doing something really dumb to lose grip. Even the Z2's at 1/3-1/2 tread and starting to get a little dry rot were sticky like that when warmed up, the Z3's need less warm up and stay sticky through a wider temp range.

The DZ102 have plenty of tread so it'll be awhile, but yeah if I end up running two sets of wheels I’ll definitely give them a look. Though truth be told 15x8 with performance all seasons is probably more than enough for a Miata with stock engine.

Yeah, people in the south don't know what a winter tire or even cautious snowy weather driving is like >.>. In the midwest, you can always tell a southerner because they hold the annual meeting of the summer tires club every winter. -Lorelei "We don't need no stinkin roads" Moira -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Yeeaaaahhhh buuuuuuut....lol More than just having grip, all seasons usually just don't have as good of feedback or the same response to input that performance dedicated "summer" tires do. Also, got a decent camera and put the thing in the mouth of the car by the air filter. Such sweet sounds come from the intake of 4 bangers. Or get one with a remote mic. https://youtu.be/juVZ7fGqB4E This post has been edited by Bitter: Oct 2, 2020 - 1:55 PM -------------------- |

I'm already tired of my thighs and butt sticking to my seat, but I don’t think throwing black cloth seats into a tan interior would look that great. I tried searching around for aftermarket seat covers on the internet, but they're all leather and/or vinyl... Not sure what else to do aside from finding a local upholstery shop and spending a fortune for one off tan cloth seat covers. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Three syllables one word. Al can tara. I love it in my Celica now. It grips me firmly, even when my back gets hot it doesn't get sweaty like it did before. It's just warm feeling but the material breathes so the moisture dissipates itself. Skin doesn't stick to it, it just feels nice and soft on you. Also if you don't drive around naked you won't have so much butt and thigh sticking.

Though truth be told 15x8 with performance all seasons is probably more than enough for a Miata with stock engine. Bull****. Traction son. Double the suggested limit in posted turns son. I el-oh-el hard when some ****nut rides up behind my car because I’m “slow” but then I chuck it into the next bend and lose them. It is heeee-larious. Also, delrin door bushings. Don’t ask, don’t think about it, don’t do that research for a week and consider it thing, just order them and spend the two minutes to slap them in and then thank me. I am serious. Even with shorts my thighs end up sticking to them. In late Fall and Winter it won't be so bad since I'll bring out the leggings, but until then it's miserable trying to unstick myself and trying to swivel around to get out. I checked out who you used but there weren't any selectable options, that or the site was being wonky. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Well for whatever it's worth the 15x7 DZ102 seem notably better(grip and stability, though the Bisltein/FCM coil-overs help too) than the 16x6.5 Comp-A/S that were on the Shinsen my brother had, but it's not like the Shinsen was bad by any means. Though I had that happen to me all day(losing people through turns), kept accidentally speeding by significant margins without realizing it. I looked into those, but then I checked the bushings on my car and they seem to be firm and in good shape. Though I came across these that're supposed to be better than the delrin offerings: https://5xracing.com/i-23993294-5x-racing-m...g%26go%3DSearch -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed
